Delilah Lavigne

We're back in California.

We flew here this morning at 4am, and we're back at Harry's house.

It feels weird being back here after being gone for what felt like forever but was only a bit over a month.

Everything looks untouched. The food in the fridge has gone bad and smells like ass so Harry threw it all out and plans to go shopping soon.

The funeral is tomorrow.

On the flight that took four hours to get here, no one spoke. We all either slept or kept to ourselves the whole time.

Niall excused himself almost every ten minutes to use the bathroom, I think he went in there to cry. I'm not sure.

Zayn read a book that I had given him a couple weeks ago and asked me every time he finished a chapter what I had thought about the previous one when I read it. He wanted to make conversation but I didn't.

Jade occupied herself by watching two movies on her laptop and Harry and Louis slept the entire time.

It was completely silent in the jet.

I liked the silence. Lately I've been pushing the silence away, trying to conjure up the voices in my head but today I welcomed it.

I'm sitting on the couch watching a movie about a couple in the hospital. They both have cystic fibrosis and they make sure to stay within five feet apart at all times so they can still see each other. I know damn well this won't be a happy ending but that's why I watched it.

Life isn't a happy ending for most people.

We all live to die.

Harry's footsteps sound behind me as he exits the bedroom, putting his phone in his back pocket, "I just talked to Luca, he wants to meet with me tonight to go over the plans for tomorrow." He sits on the couch right beside me and puts his arm around me.

"What are you watching?" His eyebrows furrow. I'm at the part where her best friend Poe dies. I wasn't expecting that.

"A movie."

"A sad one." He points out, fiddling his fingers with the sleeve of my shirt.

"Do you want to come with me?"

"For what?"

"I just told you, to meet with Luca." His head turns to me.

I shake mine, "No."

He bites his cheek and narrows his eyes, "It might be good for you to get out for a bit, it'll probably be super quick so we can do something after."

"I don't want to."

He sighs and stands from the couch, he grabs the remote and pauses the movie, "Is this what it's gonna be like?"

"Will you move so I can finish the movie?"

"I don't like this person that you are right now."

My eyes stay on the screen as I take in what he said. I know he's right, I'm certainly not the bubbly fun Delilah that everyone loves and cherishes their relationship with.

"Things change. People change."

He scoffs, throwing the remote on the couch next to me, "I'm leaving. If you need anything call Zayn or Jade, I don't know when I'll be back." He walks past me and grabs his keys on the table next to the front door, then slamming the door behind him.

I unpause the movie and continue watching, waiting to see if I was right about the ending.

Safe to say I was.
