Hello! Shoutout to prawnpizza7 for overall being amazing. ;)
Cranefrost, Snowfall and Redstar were left behind with a pawful of other warriors. The full moon still hung in the sky, bright and gleaming.
Iceflower and Codtail of Riverclan stayed behind with Minnowstar. Rayleaf and Tallstrike went with Clawstar. Swiftstrike and Dustbreeze accompanied Nettlestar and Finchwing and Cinderberry went with Honeystar.
The fifteen cats padded through the forest. The air was crisp and the wind ruffled through their fur. It would be a hard journey.
With Cranefrost leading the way, the cats arrived at Bubbles' camp just before Moonhigh. Luckily, it had been a journey without any dramas. Bubbles let them stay for the night as he recognised Cranefrost. The questions and arguments would be made in the morning, when everyone was refreshed.
Cranefrost settled down in the unfamiliar, feather lined nest that the kits had made for her. As soon as Cranefrost's eyelids fluttered closed, she had a dream.
A dark tabby tom with a torn ear was waiting, his amber eyes glowing through the night. They showed no sign of emotion as he seemed to be waiting patiently. His tail gave a quick, irritated flick, and it was obvious that the tom was growing impatient. Cranefrost suddenly realised it was Jackalflame.
She had missed the meeting that she'd promised him!
As the moon drifted down the sky, Jackalflame's voice echoed through Cranefrost's ears.
She's probably in her nest, sleeping with that other tom right now. She's forgotten me. A painful and shocked feeling overcame Cranefrost as she somehow heard Jackalflame's bitter thoughts.
"No!" She wanted to yowl, " I'm here! I want to see you but I can't!"
Jackalflame obviously couldn't hear her as he got up after some more heartbeats. The Sun was about to rise as he returned to his clanmates and found a place among the sleeping warriors.
Her dream shifted. Cranefrost now was outside Bubbles' camp. The rain pattered down rhythmically on her pelt, but then it became more heavy. Suddenly, the water filled the valley which Bubbles' camp was in, and the dens remained underwater. Cats and crowfood floated on the water, flailing, or already dead.
It's just a bad dream, Cranefrost told herself, waking up.
But she went stiff as she heard the faint, delicate, thrum of the rain on the roof of the den. It was going to flood.
Cranefrost sprinted out of the den. It was still night, and it only seemed like heartbeats since they had arrived. The full moon still hung in the dark blanket of the sky, and the stars were nothing but luminous pinpricks. The rain wasn't heavy yet, so she had a chance to save the camp before it flooded. Cranefrost burst into Bubbles' den. Luckily, the gray tom was sitting in his nest.
"Cranefrost. I thought you'd fallen asleep by now." He meowed, turning to her.
"Bubbles! I got a vision- the camp's going to flood! We have to get every cat out!" Cranefrost yowled. Bubbles' eyes narrowed, as if he was debating whether to believe her or not. But the urgency in her voice must've convinced him, as he nodded.
He trotted out of the den and onto a pile of rocks.
"Every cat comes outside! We need to evacuate!" He yowled loudly. Immediately, all of the cats gathered around.
"Starclan sent me a dream! The camp is going to flood!" Cranefrost tried to project her voice through the rain, which was now getting slightly heavier.
The cats of Bubbles' camp were clearly not convinced.
"It's only a tiny bit! You're over exaggerating." One of the cats yowled back.
"What's a Starclan?" A kit asked.
Thankfully, Bubbles ignored all of his clanmates' negative comments. "Listen, better safe than sorry. I'm happy to leave you out here, but to everyone who is actually loyal and deserves to be part of this group, follow me. We're going to evacuate to clearer ground tonight. Tomorrow, we'll return."
Bubbles started padding up the steep trek to higher ground. And though some cats looked like they thoroughly regretted it, everyone followed Bubbles.
Not one cat in the group slept well that night.
In the morning, Bubbles led his group back to the camp. Thankfully, it had stopped raining. Cranefrost had been right- as soon as the last paw had been set out of the valley, the rain poured down.
When they returned to camp, the water was a tail from the ground. Dens had been ripped from their places, rocks and other debris had been hurtled, trees had fallen, and crowfood was lifelessly floating on the musty water.
"Okay. Griffon, Mango, Glimmer and Pepper, I want you to work on digging a pathway down the other side of the hill so that all of the water falls out. Hope, Blossom, Blue and Pixie will fix out the dens. Muffin, Sorrel, Sparrow and Leaf will remove all of the debris. And I want Amber, Moon, Cream and Shine to go hunting so that we have food. Every cat that I haven't mentioned, join a group and help." Bubbles ordered.
Redstar, who had stayed silent, stepped forward. "We would like to help. What would you like us to do?"
"Let's talk about why you've come here."
"It is time for our revenge. We have created a decent plan to put a stop to the Dark Warriors' ways." Redstar announced.
Bubbles nodded. "When do we attack?"
"Three sunrises from now." Clawstar answered.
Honeystar took a step forward, her golden fur smouldering in the sunlight. "We too have been tormented by these merciless rogues. Our warriors have been killed, and it is time we fight back. Will you join us in battle as an ally?"
Honeystar was by far the best communicator in the clans. Her soothing voice and calm personality made her a great friend, and she always listened. Instead of taking a side in arguments, she ends them.
Bubbles gazed into her deep blue eyes and nodded. "I'll tell my cats at the end of the day."
The camp had been cleaned and was looking good. The cats had gathered around as Bubbles was explaining the battle they would take part in. "Cinnamon, Pixie, Blue, Cream, Leaf. I want you to stay back at camp and guard the elders and kits with your life. Send someone if you are outnumbered and we will send a patrol for you."
The journey back seemed short as 30 cats followed Cranefrost and the rest of the clan cats through the forest. The battle sounded... harsh. What if she wasn't ready? What if all of her clanmates died when she could've saved them?
When the cats arrived, a meeting was called with all clans.
"Cats will be able to cross the border more freely, but still please try to respect them. We will not be hostile to the cats from Bubbles' group, and they have the right to wander wherever they like, as long as they act acceptable." Clawstar announced. Surprisingly, no cats objected. Cranefrost knew they all understood the pain and death coming.
Cranefrost saw Jackalflame in the crowd. He refused to make eye contact and looked distant. She sighed. If there was time, she'd explain everything to him. But right now, there were more important things than love.
Sorry it took so long for me to update! I had writers block.
Until the next chapter (Which I promise will come out soon.)
