~ Darcy ~
~4 months ago, July 16th ~

"Mommy? Mommy? Mommy?" Darcy chanted from the backseat as she kicked the back of her mother's chair as she drove.

She was born 6 years ago to a teen mom of the age 16, and a father of the age 17. Everything was perfect in Darcy's eyes they loved her and her grandparents loved her even more.

She was a bright child, but always getting into things and talking about something.

She liked people, maybe a little too much but no one ever stopped her from being how she was. Her grandmother praised her and spoiled her for the smallest things and she loved her for it.

She was smart too. Always been from a young age even if she did bad things from time to time because that's what kids did.

"Darcy! Stop it." She jumps slightly as her fathers voice booms through the car, her mother places a hand on his leg. "It's okay, sweetie."

"No it's not. We told her to be quiet and stop kicking but she's still doing it."

"She's a child." She says softly. "Bill's kids listen, Derek's kids listen and Jamie's so why can't she?"

Darcy pouts, "Sorry, daddy. I will listen."

"No you won't, Darcy. You're always being a bad girl." He says harshly, making her tear up. "Mommy, Daddy being mean."

"Honey stop it." She says to him before looking in the rearview mirror. "Don't cry he didn't mean it, sweetheart."

He sighs, "We came here to buy you things for your birthday but that's not happening anymore."

"Peter..." the mother says before sighing, not wanting to have a conversation in front of their daughter. Sometimes she regrets keeping Darcy because it changed him but she wouldn't ever let her know like Peter does.

She pulls over once they drove through a cute little town that they've drove through millions of times to get to the city, parking the car outside of a small mom and pop shop.

She hops out and gets Darcy out of the back. "You stay here while we get ice cream, yeah?" He nods, watching them go into the store.

"Daddy no want ice cream?" Darcy asked looking up at her mommy, "I don't know, sweetie I'll ask him in a bit."

She orders their ice cream and sits Darcy next to the tv so she has something to watch while they talk.

"Stay here, Mommy will be back. I love you, princess." Darcy giggles as her mother kisses her nose and she does it back looking into her eyes. "I love you, mommy."

She gets up going to the counter where the young girl that served them types on her phone.

"Excuse me? Um can you watch her for a moment while I talk to my husband outside?"

"Yeah sure.." She says in a unbothered monotone voice without even looking up from her phone.

The mother leaves, getting back in the car. "Peter... you can't be talking to her like that. You know she's sensitive."

"I know I just ugh I can't take it anymore. She's too much, Bell." He looks at her, "I can't do this anymore."

"You're leaving me?" She frowns. "No no I want you to come with me. Think about it we can go on those vacations we always planned. We can go on our honeymoon."

"What about Darcy?" She looks past him into the shop. "She'll be fine. Someone will notice she's alone and take her in." He says as if he's been thinking about it for a while.

"But- but we said-"

"We said we'd be fine without all that because your mother made you keep the baby. We never wanted kids, remember?'

"Yeah I remember but she's here now." She tears up because she wanted what he said but she knew it was wrong to run off leaving their daughter.

"Bell, she'll be okay. Look at this town they won't let anything happen to her."

"I don't know...." She sighs. "How about I do it? I drive away. I take full responsibility of taking you away with me."

"Peter." He looks into her eyes, seeing that she was stuck between choosing the right thing and the wrong thing.

"Switch seats with me." He jumps out of the car going around as she climbed over into the passenger seat and looks into the ice cream again.

He speeds off not giving her a chance to protest anymore. He saw it in her face everytime Darcy colored on the walls or threw tantrums, that it was too much for her as well. So he decided to do something about it today, even if it was irresponsible and wrong.

"I can't believe we're doing this. My parents are going to kill us."

"I know that's why we're not going back. We have money saved up to do whatever we want. To go wherever we want."

She sits back in the chair looking back at Darcy's carseat then looks at Peter before holding his hand. She always chose him over anyone but this was the first time she let herself choose him over their daughter and she wasn't mad about it...

Darcy finishes her treat as she watched 'Finding Dory' then cleans her hands and face in the bathroom, just like her mother taught her. She leaves the store without being noticed by the teen behind the counter.

"Mommy? Daddy?" She looks around sadly after noticing the car was gone. She pouts, sitting on the bench waiting for them because her mommy said she'll be back. "Mommy said stay in the store." She mumbles to herself before getting back up.

She looks around with a big smile as she hears puppies barking at the window, running over she waves at them and taps on the window, making them try to lick her hand. She giggles going inside.

"Can I pet doggie?" She confidently asks the older man.

"Oh where's your parents, missy?" He says once he looks over the counter spotting her. "Mommy and Daddy go buy me birthday presents!" Darcy's says excitedly.

"Is that so?" He smiles at her excitement, "Yup. Can I pet doggies now?"

"Oh alright but only for a second I'm gonna be closing soon."

"Yay!" She claps and follows him over to the dogs as he takes one out for her. "He so cute!" She squeals, sitting on the rugged floor playing with him.

After a couple of minutes playing with the dogs he took out for her, he starts packing up.

"Little missy, I think you should say bye to them and go find your parents it's getting late."

"Aww okay!" She says with a smile and kisses their heads, "Bye bye fluffy, bye bye brownie and bye bye snowball." She gets up and waves. "Bye bye mister."

"Bye, sweetheart wait here's a birthday present." He smiles nicely handing over a stuffed animal.

She squeals hugging it tightly, "Thank you thank you!" She smiles big, running out of the store ready to show her parents. She goes back to the ice cream shop to wait but it's locked.

The little girl whines as she keeps trying to open the door. "Oh I'll wait on the chair then." She says, climbing back on the bench she was on once before.

Sadly the man didn't see her all alone because he used the back door after placing out food and locking up.

After a few hours she cried herself to sleep on the bench as the day turned to night and warm turned to cold.
