One crucial detail about Aeternitas was that, while she was a deity or goddess, she was not the God of the entire world; she held the title of Goddess of the Eternal Realm, not the God of the Celestial Realm. Spirits roamed freely in the Eternal Realm, but they were not as benevolent as those in the Celestial Realm.
