--Anemone's POV--

Anemone glanced down at her cinnamon orchid. She was giving a present to Tamarin and wanted it to be perfect.

Perfect... that was what her mother had wanted her to be in the SeaWing kingdom. Then, here at Jade Mountain, she tried to be perfect but it ended up coming out as bratty. But around Tamarin, Anemone was no one but herself. The blind RainWing was a calm and steady anchor in her rough-waved life.

As she (A/N lol almost accidentally wrote ass XD) wandered through the hallways, she thought of a conversation she'd had with her mother a while back. One that still made her VERY VERY angry.

"Mom?"

Queen Coral was painting, a new hobby of hers. "Yes, Anemone, dear?"

Anemone hesitated. "Mom, I'm... I'm lesbian."

Queen Coral dropped her paintbrush. "Oh dear, clumsy me," she muttered. "Moray! MORAY! Clean this mess up, will you?"

Moray simultaneously hurried up, bowed and wiped the paint off the floor. Coral shot Anemone a We'll-talk-about-this-later-young-lady look and swept away, presumably to find a new paintbrush. Anemone sagged against the wall.

Why did her mother, of all dragons, have to be homophobic?

WHY?

Moray noticed. "You're lesbian?" she asked.

"What's it to you?" Anemone snapped, still in a bad mood.

"I'm bisexual," Moray admitted. "But your mother would have me executed if she found out. My advice is... fly. Fly away while you still can."

Anemone was speechless. She'd always thought her cousin was boring and such a talon-licker, but this was... new.

Moray gripped Anemone's forearms and looked her in the eye. "Go. I'll cover for you. You can't stay here; Queen Coral is the worst. She'll make your life a living hell. Go!"

Anemone nodded fearfully and dived off the platform, shooting one last look at Moray over her shoulder. Moray raised her claw and waved a sad little good-bye, and then Anemone plunged beneath the waves and flew to the only place she knew was safe.

The rainforest.

"Anemone?"

Anemone jolted back to the present and smiled at the blind RainWing. "I'm right here, Tamarin. How are you doing?"

"Well," Tamarin said with a distant smile. "Is that cinnamon orchid for me?"

"You have a good nose," laughed Anemone. "And of course it's for you."

Tamarin's scales went rosy pink and she carefully brushed her wing against Anemone's. Anemone blushed and wound her tail around Tamarin's. They curled up together and Anemone brought a scroll out of her school pouch. Tamarin was pressed up against her with her wing tented gently over Anemone's back.

Anemone opened the scroll and began to read. She had just started the first sentence when Tamarin kissed her.

And it was the perfect happily ever after.

The end!
