My family and I were quickly starting to become discovered by the world, and it was all anyone could talk about. We were being vastly printed out on newspapers all around the city, the media seemed to have nothing else to talk about other than us, and the CCTV footage in the market presented us in action- including our powers and techniques of fighting. However there was a lot of conspiracy against us. Some beloved we were here to replace the Umbrella Academy- which I couldn't disagree with- and many people started protesting in the streets, saying about how my brothers and I killed five innocent men without one drop of remorse. My father explained to us that backlash was to be expected, but to not let it get into our heads. For weeks after the incident my brothers and I continued to fight against crime in the city, saving lives and protecting good people from the bad. And of course, we always arrived far before the Umbrella Academy.
I had to admit however, that I didn't exactly like this constant rivalry my family had against the Academy. I certainly didn't think we were better than them. We simply held the same power they had. It felt too much like a competition of who the public loved more. Surprisingly however, now that my family was highly known towards the public of the city, it opened up vast opportunities for us- one of the main ones being we could finally go out into the world whenever we felt like it. Nolan had taken a sudden interest in barber shops, vintage clothing stores and retro video-game places, whereas Asher found an interest in local coffee shops and the many hundreds of markets located in the middle of the city selling a vast array of items. I on the other hand, had found a keen adoration in bookstores and music shops that's sold any type of song or book I could possibly think off.
So after a couple of weeks of being discovered by the public eye, it was a common thing for my brothers and I to leave the house whenever we pleased, seeing as we no longer had to hide ourselves from the outside world. It was around 10.30pm on a brisk Thursday evening when I decided to go out for a late night walk and clear my head. I had been stuck in the house all day after all, so I figured some fresh air would be good for me. After putting on my converses and putting on my newly bought AC/DC hoodie- a wonderful piece of merchandise I managed to buy from my beloved music store- I quietly exited my bedroom door and snuck down the stairs, making a beeline for the door. Despite being allowed out during the day, I unfortunately had a 9pm curfew. The cool evening breeze was slightly chilly as I headed down the stone steps of the Home and onto the concrete pavement where it was desolate of barely any people; a few just being late-night dog walkers, homeless people sleeping in dingy alleyways and a couple of drunkies.
Despite just a couple of flickering lampposts and blinding car headlights lighting up the walkway and roads, the area around me was pretty much obscure as well as quiet. The only sounds I could make out was the rustling of the wind snaking past trees and bushes, the shouts and squeals of a group of teenagers seemingly drunk or high, and the sounds of a distant dog barking. But strangely enough I had the feeling that I was being watched. I felt it creep up the back of my spine and made my stomach feel nauseous. I couldn't hear anyone else close by, nor could I see them, but I couldn't ignore the gut feeling that I was not only being followed, but in immense danger. I found myself soon quickening my pace, and checking my surroundings for any suspicious behaviour. I knew if I were attacked- or possibly harassed- then I'd use my powers to defend myself. Im a lot tougher than people think I am.
I started speed walking around in the area in a low-key kind of way, trying to act as if I didn't know what was going on or that I was being watched, as I quickly made my way down a nearby shabby and dismal alleyway barely even lit up by any street lamps. Trash cans, cigarette buds, beer bottles and litter covered the pavement I hurried down, my shoes occasionally splashing small puddles of what I could only hope was water as I walked further through the pitch blackness. It was only when I stopped dead in my tracks halfway down this disgusting alley that I noticed someone had turned down it with me, standing just about 7 feet away from me. As I turned around to face the silhouette of this person, I could immediately recognise that it was a teenage boy that had to be around my similar age, as they seemed to be just an inch taller.
"The hell do you want from me?" I shouted out to them in an annoyed tone.
"My family and I don't want any trouble missy," the boy spoke as he edged closer to me, I immediately steeping back.
"I swear to god if you get any closer to me dude, we're gonna have a problem." I threatened him as I slowly began to retrieve my pocket knife from my jean pocket, all the meanwhile using my ability to slowly lift up shards of sharp glass that littered the floor around me.
The guy- who i noticed had his hands tucked into the pockets of an immaculate blazer- held his hands up in surrender before speaking.
"Believe me missy we don't want to use violence on this matter, however if you force us too we will."
"Who the hell is 'we'?" I quested him with a glare right before six other silhouette's appeared out of the shadowy darkness of the alleyway. They all began to encircle me slowly, edging their footsteps closer to me as the boy spoke.
"We just to take you with us for a while miss. There's something my family would like to discuss with you..if you don't mind...""Whatever the hell it is you want to discuss it's not happening." Now I'm warning you; stay the fuck away from me. I don't want to hurt anyone alright!?" I replied back harshly as the figures proceeded to approach me.
"We'll miss, if your not going to come with us quietly, then I suppose we'll just have to...borrow you for a bit..." Was the last thing the boy said before I quickly threw the shattered glass in every direction around me, no doubt cutting a couple of them as they tumbled down to the floor to avoid getting cut. Immediately I flung a huge rectangular garbage bin towards two of the people that quickly began to charge at me, earning a pained grit from the two at they were slammed against the brick wall. I suddenly felt something slimy snake around my ankle and pull me up into the air- noticing it was a huge tentacle erupting from one of the boys stomach's- to which I used my pocket knife I was holding to cut my leg free from the tentacles grip, hearing a pained scream erupt from the boy responsible."JESUS CHRIST BEN!?"
As quickly as I got us I felt someone charge and me from behind and suddenly grab me with immense strength as they wrapped their arms around my petit body. I struggled to move and breathe as I used my Telekineses to hurriedly grab an dirty beer bottle laying upon the weed covered ground, and smash it upon the persons head, not only freeing myself from the person but knocking them out.
"OH MY GOD, LUTHER!"
The fight then proceeded me to get tackled down onto the floor by someone who I quickly fought back against, them shoving me harshly up against the wall before I stomped hard on there foot, kneed them in there ribs and tackled them to the floor with a pained grunt. It was then that I felt a sharp pain slicing through my thigh, and I quickly realised that a sharp object- presumably a knife- had deeply sliced my right leg.
"God damn it!" I forced through gritted teeth before I hurled a couple silver trash cans towards the people charging at me, knocking them down upon the floor like bowling pins.To my left, the same boy that had previously spoke to me suddenly appeared out of nowhere and began to attack me. I dodged many of his blows and he did mine for a solid 10 profusely long seconds of fighting before he gave a hard blow to my injured leg- directly upon the sliced open cut that was practically drooling out sticky, ruby red blood at this point- causing me to collapse to the floor in pain. He was quick to pin my frantic arms and legs to the floor, just as a girl rushed over to us and quickly whispered something in my ear, her eyes glistening a pearly white as she did.
"I heard a rumour, that you felt tired.."
Only seconds after she spoke I felt my muscles loosen and my eyes become dropping whilst exhaustion took over my body. I desperately tried to move and get up from my uncomfortable position on the ground, but with the boy nailing me to the concrete floor, and my body slowly becoming limp, I could do nothing but surrender as my vision became blurry before I soon blacked out...
