It's been a month since that night in my room and Ethan and I had gotten closer.
The day after that when I had gotten to school, my friends had given me a big hug.
They comforted me and told me they had taken care of Corey.
"What do you mean 'taken care of'?" I had asked them but all they gave me were devious grins. Later I saw Corey with his arm in a sling and a bandage wrapped around his head. I still laugh when I think about it.
Ethat still takes me out on drives and to restaurants and amusement parks. I always wondered where he got the money from but each time I asked he always changed the subject.
"Hellooo?" Rick gave me a light tap with his knuckles on my forehead. "Is anyone in there?"
I swatted his hand away as he cackled.
"What's up with you these days?" Abby asked as she sipped her juice box.
"Yeah, you've been off to LaLa Land a lot lately." Alex commented.
"I'm fine." I told them. "Just have a lot on my mind."
I hadn't told anyone about Ethan yet. I hadn't even told Zion. Either the timing wasn't right or not everyone was available. Speaking of which....
"Hey, where's Zion? I barely see him these days." I asked my friends.
That was true. He didn't come to my house anymore and anytime I saw him in the hallways, he just turned the other direction. I had to hitch a ride with either Caleb and Abby or Zeke in the mornings. Did I do something wrong?
The guys exchanged looks, including Zac who was usually oblivious. That was very weird.
"Ummm...?" I asked.
"We should go to that new water park today." Peter suggested changing the subject. The guys were to agree with him. Hmmm, extra weird.
"Umm, I can't today guys. Sorry." I apologised as the bell for 5th period went off. I didn't mention that Ethan had already taken me a few days ago and he wanted to show me a new store he discovered today.
"What?!" Won exclaimed. "Come on Zeph! We haven't hung out in ages!"
I bit my lip as Caleb looked at me suspiciously and shook my head.
"Maybe another day?" I suggested as I grabbed my bag and ran to my Spanish class.
"Holà Senõr Pablo." I greeted as I entered. The guys came soon after, still looking suspiciously at me.

School ended quickly and when the closing bell rang, I gathered my things and ran to the parking lot.
Girls were crammed around a particular spot and I saw it was Ethan. He was talking and laughing until he saw me. Grinning, he called out: "Helen! Come on, let's go!"
I saw some girls give me jealous looks while one muttered "Figures he has a girlfriend."
But as I entered the car, I saw Caleb staring at Ethan's car with a look of disbelief on his face.
"Step on it." I said gripping Ethan's arm.
He raised an eyebrow and said, " Whoa, calm down." as he went out of the parking lot.
I shook my head and said "No, no calm down. My brother was there looking at us."
"So?" He snorted.
"So I haven't told anyone about you and my brother Caleb looked like he was about to freak out!" I answered.
He was silent for a while. Then-
"You don't want them to know about us?" He finally asked.
I looked at him in disbelief. "What? No. I just-"
"You just what, Helen? You always tell me about your friends but you always say they don't know about me yet. Why?!" He asked, getting agitated, taking his hands off the steering wheel.
"Ethan, why are you getting mad? It's not like we're dating." I asked him.
"Exactly! We aren't so why are you hidi-"
Everything happened so fast. The car collided with something. A tree, I think. I couldn't see. The airbag acted up and started to suffocate me. Blood everywhere, glass shattering. I couldn't breathe.
"Helen!" I heard faintly before everything went dark.
