Summer ends
The trees bleed red and orange and yellow
Maple leaves like a forest fire
A premonition
A plastic infestation
In the waves, on the wind
A turtle chokes on a plastic bag
While a little girl chokes on polluted air
The world is too busy looking at the Amazon burning
What can we do? they all cry
But in the end the turtle and the little girl will both die
So the world
is warming but hearts
are still numb.
