( BRAVE. )
Sirens danced through the night atmosphere, red-blue lights passed through the streets and both girls felt the adrenaline rush through their veins as they just turned into a dark alley. On their backs two dark bags filled with unpaid food, which they tried to steal unnoticed from the evening market after the vendor got involved in a conversation with an elderly lady on whom perhaps guilt now rested.
Again and again, Chaeyoung's head rotated in YN's direction, as if to make sure the other girl hadn't turned to dust, to give the sky a kiss and leave Chaeyoung. The alley was quite darkened by the dense houses, which at least provided the advantage that both thieves were not quick to spot; equally, however, they had to be careful not to run into a possible obstacle.
But they knew this route all too well, they had already walked it so many times that it had become ingrained in their minds. It felt like Chaeyoung could skim over it as easily as overgrown moss, and immediately she knew which turn was next. It was the same for YN.
Both had learned to dance with the shadows and become part of the night; otherwise, the police would have caught on to them long ago. Otherwise, the two girls could be grateful to the high crime rate that prevailed in the district and kept the police at bay, going after all the criminals that the common thieves leaked through like fine sand between their hands.
Deftly, YN scaled the wall so she could help the less-climbing Chaeyoung, who tried to pull her up as best she could.
"Thank you," the short-haired Chaeyoung murmured before a brief grin flashed on her face. YN just waved it off, "Not for this, bae."
Chaeyoung's gaze roamed over the empty square. Behind the houses was a small lawn, at the end of which was a wooden roundel with a layer of dust living on its roof. Its interior, on the other hand, was furnished with two mattresses and blankets; they use it as a sleeping place.
When Chaeyoung felt that the coast was clear (after all, the meadow was also bordered by a road on which a police car could drive by at any moment), the short-haired just nodded briefly and slowly slid down from the wall to the front, barely taking time to get up properly, but immediately moving towards their home.
Just then a police car drove down the street and spotted the creatures bathed in red and blue lights, turning suspiciously and looking for an escape route. Suddenly Chaeyoung's head darkened and the map of the place was not at hand as usual, so her action was to snatch YN's backpack off her back and hold the suspect of the crime herselff. Confused, YN pushed her eyebrows together and was about to speak when the cops rushed up to the two and YN's mouth felt like it was sewn shut as her heart pounded against the bone cage.
Both were standing somewhere on the grass, far too overwhelmed with the situation, while suddenly both felt a strong grip around their arms. YN was already trying to drag them along to the car. Their limbs felt like they were paralyzed, could be moved sparsely. Chaeyoung tried to resist, squirming in the old policeman's stern grip; but only for one reason.
"Release YN, she has nothing to do with the crime. It was all my idea, I made her go along with it." The short-haired woman's voice was louder than expected, cutting through the evening air and getting through to YN, whose overwhelmed expression turned into one of shock; because it wasn't even true. It wasn't true, and despite that, YN didn't manage to vibrate her vocal cords and protest it, even though Chaeyoung would nullify it anyway.
She was doing this for YN; to protect her.
And for that, she was pretty brave.
I am not really sure what to think about this one; I liked it tho.
Anyways I am now gonna watch Yerim Hawaii Vlog. Bye <3
