( forsythia by veruca salt ) "HOW DOES THAT SOUND?" Darcy asks, tapping her pen on the notepad in front of her as she examines it.
"Muddy. And humid." Gwen says, a not so pleased look on her face. "Why do I have to take the woods? Shouldn't we make Ivy do it?"
"Because Ivy is ignoring my calls." Darcy sighs. "And we'll switch off every two weeks, anyways."
Sloane slides the notepad over to her so she can examine it closer. The three of them were sat at a booth at Cooks, Darcy wasn't on break any more but no one had said anything yet, so she stayed with them until she was needed elsewhere.
Two months of witch-duties was planned out in front of them, all according to each of their schedules, all according to their strengths and weaknesses.
They'd monitor sections of Southeil by themselves. And thanks to Kaia, they now had an in on when and where attacks may be happening as she'd stolen a police radio from her dad long ago.
"Shouldn't we be getting paid for this?" Gwen asks, raising her eyebrows.
"Our payment is not getting killed." Darcy responds with a slight laugh. She turns to Sloane. "Did you make them yet?"
"Make what?" Gwen asks.
Sloane smiles brightly. "Flash cards."
Gwen erupts into laughter as she watches Sloane excitedly bring them out of her bag to give to each of the girls. "Spells, charms, demons, just... over arching things to know. All color coded."
"And with pictures." Gwen smiles, turning a card around to face the other girls. She points to a poorly drawn figure. "Is this supposed to be..."
"A Corpus Captivitatis." Sloane laughs, taking the card back from her. "Don't blame me that's what they look like in the grimoire."
Darcy goes through them. "I wonder if this is how they learned about all this. Probably not with... flash cards but... I wonder if it just came naturally to them or if they had to study."
"Apparently it came naturally to Hannah." Gwen remarks, referring to the witch whose magic Ivy possessed.
Darcy sighed. "I'm going to her place after work to try and talk to her again. We can't do this without all four of us. At least, not very well. Do you want to come with?"
"I have practice." Sloane frowns.
Gwen narrows her eyes unhappily. "And I have woods duties."
"I'll make Kaia go with you, okay? She lives in that area, she knows it pretty well." Darcy says, trying to make it seem more appealing, but the offer didn't make her displeased expression fade.
