ᴀʀᴀᴄᴇʟɪ ᴅᴇᴄɪᴅᴇꜱ ᴛᴏ ɪɢɴᴏʀᴇ ʜᴇʀ ᴘʀᴏʙʟᴇᴍꜱ, as per usual, and practices flipping on a balance beam-like ledge at the park.
She holds her hands above her, her thumbs and pointer finger making a 'W' shape. Then Araceli taps her left foot once, twice, in front of her before leaning back and smoothly doing a back-walkover.Warm-up.
Now upright, she rocks on her back leg and powerfully throws her arms and chest forward, doing a front aerial, her feet pounding as she skillfully lands.
Araceli swings her arm back, doing one flip flop, and then another, and then another.
Gymnastics was a sport long ago before quirks had become a part of everyday life, but Araceli saw one day, when she was very little, an old news interview of Nana Shimura. She was one of the first Pro-Hero woman to enter a field completely dominated by men and excel.
Nana Shimura is Araceli's favorite hero, the kind of hero that Araceli aspires to be.
So, when Araceli discovered that Nana Shimura had trained in gymnastics for years, seven-year-old Araceli begged and begged her parents to sign her up somewhere she could learn how to do acrobatics.
It was very hard to find a gym, but her parents managed it, and Araceli only learned/specialized in the beam and floor.
Araceli walks backwards, to the edge of the park-beam, and does a full and a half turn, clicking her tongue when she wobbles a bit at the end.
Araceli takes a deep breath, closing her eyes, and takes three big steps with speed immense power, doing a round-off flip-flop and then a back half-twist off the edge of the park's beam, wobbling again as she lands on the ground.
Araceli sighs, a little disappointed, she always struggles sticking the landing.
"What. the. fuck."
Araceli spins around to see Katsuki Bakugo behind her.
There are three things an animal does when in a deep crisis, flight, fight, or freeze.
Araceli is usually quick on her feet, but when comes to the raging bull that is Katsuki Bakugo, all she can do is freeze, just like an embryonic bamboo shark.
Araceli stares at him, he has work-out clothes on, his headphones in and a water bottle in his hand.
"Uhm..." Araceli stares for a second more, unable to comprehend why the hell they keep running into each other.
Araceli rushes to pick up her hoodie, wallet, keys and phone that lay on the side, "Bye."
Araceli tries to escape but Katsuki grabs her arm, shouting, "Hey!", to which she responds horribly to and rips it out of his grasp.
"Bye," she says sharply again, trying to run away and hide behind the park's slide, her emotionally and physically exhausted brain unable to do much else.
Katsuki sighs, rubbing his eyes in irritation, when they open, he can see Araceli crouch behind the slide, trying to make herself as small as possible.
