The Songwriter’s Funeral Song
Epilogue

Miyako stares at her Walkman for a while. A few minutes when she decided to turn it on. A recording was on top of the playlist. Curiosity convinced her to pay attention to it.

Miyako,

I thought of the grassy field in a sunny weather
The wind that caresses my hair, the dancing grass in the music of the rustling leaves…
The clear, blue sky, the birds, and the fluffy clouds
All of them remind me of how wonderful the world is
I wish to live in a place like this
But the time comes to crumble it all
I would like to sing to make it, once again, peaceful
I dreamt of becoming a hero
But it turns out, I’m the one who needs a hero
Every night, I cry and ask
Why is the world changing every time?
I’m not good at adjusting to new things
I’m used to the old things which are more beautiful
I hope I can live in the world where we used to live when we were little
Maybe, in the future?
‘Til then, Miyako…

Yuru

The recording ended with Miyako smiling. “Stupid,” she hissed.
