Ruby Jane's hand had reached to check on the chain that Nico was wearing. Seeing him jerk off, she realized her guess was right and scoffed, "Nico Burton, you can't trust her but wearing the locket."
This time, Ruby Jane's hand was too fast and snatched the chain without caring that it might hurt his neck.
The little force of her hand obviously pained his neck but his focus was on the locket to hold it and placed his hand on his chest but he was late and missed it.
He gnashed his teeth seeing her walk away with the chain that had lockets. He pulled her back to take the locket from her however Ruby Jane twisted her hand to lose his grip and pushed him away.
"You-"
Ruby Jane cut in and her voice wasn't calm but vicious, "Are you worth this?" She asked, holding the locket in the air.
'Is she overtaken by her emotions?' Nope. Since Nico dared to step out of his boundaries for Vance Hays, she changed her plan to make him regret and use him to destroy the Hays family.
'Don't call me heartless. You asked for it.' Ruby Jane glared at him.
Nico's hand which had almost reached the locket froze hearing her. His eyes stayed on the locket. It was no special locket, it was a simple military dog tag with his name, group, and batch. It is considered a lucky charm in the army and he had none. Jennie had sent him before he went on a mission and she was missing before he returned.
'Worth?' Now he doubted it too.
Why didn't he feel disgusted by the locket when he got to know Jennie was a promiscuous woman? Just because he heard from Vance, hadn't he forced himself to believe it?
'Then why didn't I throw the locket away?' He thought.
Ruby Jane saw him frowning. She didn't know if he finally realized to let go of the locket or still wanted it. Anyhow, she chose to attack him emotionally, "Have you ever thought the innocent you think might be guilty and Jennie could be blameless?"
The innocent might be guilty? Vance Hays? Nico's gaze went to her eyes. He wasn't sure if he was imagining it but he could feel the pain she was desperately hiding behind her voice of disdain.
'How does she know about me and Jennie?' His thoughts were back to messy.
He had thought of Ruby Jane as a woman in disguise brought by Jisoo and Mino, then he got to know she is the daughter of real Evans. Then how could she know about Jennie so clearly?
His voice sounded dilemmatic, "You-"
Ruby Jane didn't let him talk. She didn't want to hear him identify her as 'Jennie', "When YOU feel you are worthy of Jennie's good wishes, get this from me. And now, show yourself out." Her sharp tone ended and she left from there.
Nico gazed at her back until she entered the office room. 'Jennie or Ruby Jane' Now the identity didn't matter to him.
Why did he start all this? For Vance Hays. Lisa, Ruby Jane, Jisoo, and Mino, are protective of Jennie. Why would they wrongly accuse a man together? Nico could understand Jisoo and Mino's behavior but Ruby Jane and Lisa?
One grew up abroad and another one doesn't care about others. There can be no smoke without fire. Nico's eyes darkened, 'Vance Hays, you better make me feel sorry instead of regret.'
He stood for Vance Hays, completely trusting him hence he wanted to feel sorry for his upcoming investigation on Vance Hays. If he finds Vance Hays guilty, he will definitely regret offending Lisa and Ruby Jane.
Nico pulled his mobile out as he stormed to the elevator to change his plan to Vance Hays.
