(TW: VIOLENCE)
Winnie's POV
Gavin and I sat next to each other in front of Dad's freshly covered grave, our funeral clothing not really the nicest, but we didn't care. Both of us in button down black shirts, both our top button undone, and I had taken my dress shoes off.
I stared at the freshly etched carvings in the headstone, feeling an empty pit in my stomach. Mom's was only right next to his, but I couldn't bring myself to look. She was a deeper wound that I didn't want to deal with mending right now.
"The flowers from Ripley are nice," Gavin said softly after a long period of silence. I nodded, staring at the flowers that adorned his headstone.
Yeah, they were. They were magnolias. Dad's favorite. Mom's were tulips, which were dead all over her headstone.
How ironic.
Gavin sighed. "So, I haven't seen you since Greece... What did Dad say?" It's true, he finished off the last bit of international trades Dad had left behind.
I tensed at the question, but it had to be established. "Well. I guess I'm the boss. Put me in charge on his last breath, almost."
He snorted. "Figures. I knew this was all gonna be yours. Dad already talked to me about this happening one day."
I rolled my eyes. "Yeah right."
We stayed silent a little longer. Well, I guess I was worried of his reaction for nothing. I just wasn't sure how I was going to deal with all this shit. I know I had Gavin with me the whole way, but I couldn't shake the feeling. What if something else was to happen to us, like the thief from a couple years ago?
"Did you ever know anything about the rat from a couple years ago?" I asked.
Gavin stared for a moment, pondering, before he shook his head. "No. If I had to guess, it's someone in the gang."
We were silent for a long time. "I don't even know where to start..."
He rolled his eyes. "You worry too much."
I shrugged. Yeah, maybe. "I'll figure it out later."

Present
"Grimm?"
"Scrim..."
My eyes darted to Scott as he stared dumbfounded at my brother. Granted, he did get his ass ruffled up a bit, but the look in his eyes told me that he was mostly reacting to his recognition of my brother. His nose, right eye, and temples were bruised, swollen, and bleeding from the beating he received.
And the use of code names?
What did Gavin do to piss Scott off? Was Scott just fucked off the drugs, like Gavin said, and it was for no reason? I don't know what kind of person he is when he's not sober, which I'm thankful, but I feel like there's more than what I know, and I don't like it.
Gavin used to be a trove of secrets, always sneaking out, coming back home beat up or fucked up off something, doing shit behind our backs, etcetera. He was a loose cannon that couldn't be tamed. So, maybe he got himself into some shit he shouldn't have? Fucked with the wrong people at the wrong time?
