Christmas Eve
8 days until New Years

12:33 a.m.

DeMarco looked down at the piece of paper that Baby D had given him a night prior. His eyes scanned over her address and then he looked up at the one story house that fit the description Baby D gave him; a red brick home with white shutters and a bullet hole through the front door.

He crumbled up the paper and then sat back in the driver's seat, thinking about what he was going to say to her. SiSi was expecting him soon, they had their differences in the past but she knew that he knew where home was. It was only a matter of time until he came crawling back to her, like he always did.

Stepping out the car, he locked the doors behind him and made his way to SiSi's porch where the light flickered. He looked around him, observing the area. Her street was dead silent, snowflakes fell from the sky and the winter breeze smacked him in the face. It was a cold world, no pun intended.

After ringing her doorbell, he waited patiently, shivering. Seconds later, the front door opened and she appeared before him. His breath almost got caught in his throat as he looked at her face. She was still beautiful. Nothing had changed about her.

"So you just gone stare at me" She smirked, breaking the ice. She opened the door wider and then motioned for him to come in. "Have a seat." She directed him to the spacious living room. He sat down on her couch as he began to take his coat off.

"Would you like something to drink?" She asked him as she stood before him. She was dressed in long black dress and a multicolored head wrapped adorned her head. He eyed her up and down oddly.

Why she looking like this? DeMarco had thought to himself.

"Naw, I won't be here long. What's up with you though? It's been a minute."

"It's been more than a minute, DeMarco." She stated.

"Yeah I know but... what's going with the..." He licked over his lips trying to find the right words to say.

"Outft?" She asked and DeMarco smirked and nodded his head. "Yeah, I ain't never seen you in nothing like this."

"Well, if you must know, I gave my life over to Allah, the merciful."

DeMarco crossed his arms over his chest. "So you a Muslim?"

"Yes, I am."

There was an awkward silence that fell in the room. He glanced amongst the living room, noticing that there weren't any Christmas decorations put up. So she was for real? But what did her religion have to do with her asking about him?

SiSi and DeMarco's went way back, before Maya. They had a romantic relationship and SiSi thought that the two were going to get married until he came to her about trafficking girls. At first, she was all for it but after he went to jail she packed up her shit and moved away. That was the last time they had seen each other, 11 years ago.

"So what you asking about me for? I'm thinking you was back on yo' bullshit."

"Not quite." She chuckled. "I had my dealings with drugs in the past but I've been sober for 5 years now." She said proudly.
