Chapter Twelve:"To Live Is To Die."

She could see now the double doors that lead into the next building, they were thick metal doors that for some reason gave off a faint purple glow. As she moves closer a smell begins to leak its way into her nose. As she reaches the set of doors, she tries to open the first set, yet oddly enough the first set of doors she tries to open, she can only open it a sliver, because it has something empeading her from opening the doors any further. She tries the middle set and at first is only met with the same resistance as the first set, she pulls her knee up, releasing it to give the door a hard kick, and they slam open.

Her eyes are greeted with an otherworldly sight, a strange green/violet fungus has coated this entire side of the school. She steps into the great hall in this building, She looks in awe around the entire place, it is terraforming the school. The further down the hall she walks down the corridor, the green and purple fungus grows thicker and thicker. The 'fungus' is becoming more the consistency of grass as she continues on.

She hears something down one of the halls leading to some classroom, as she gets closer she notices that one of the walls has what looks to be some sort of chrysalis, and they are moving ever so slightly. She shoots the chrysalis twice and it explodes. Revealing the decaying vistage of a man inside the chrysalis, covered in black writhing pustials.

She could see the black slugs moving inside the pustials. The human body was being eaten by the slugs. The slugs liquified the skin in you a purple melted cheese like substance, that also had the appearance of snot like mucus. A green pustules burst as one of the slugs came falling out. Maddi starts to get nauseous, she then doubles over and vomits. She tries to get away from the chrysalis as quickly as possible. That's when she sees it, the walls are lined floor to ceiling with many chrysalises.

"Oh fuck, there is more than enough for the whole planet twice." She says, coming to the frightening realization. She looks down the great hall, to see that the further in you go, the building looked like a nature preserve from some alien world. The flora was so thick that she could barely see down to the auditorium at the end of the building.

"I ain't getting through there..." She looks around and decides to go down to the lower floor, to the basement classes. She doubles back to the entrance of the building. She turns to go down into the basement classrooms, and as she gets into the doors, she hears a deafening sound come from the auditorium. She drops down and clutches her ears.

It feels like her brain is vibrating in her skull, just on the brink of exploding out of her head. Though it feels like an eternity the sound stops just as soon as she hears it. She gets up but falls against the wall of lockers. The sound has completely disoriented her. She hears some monstrous shrieks, coming from the outside, at varying distances away.

"Fuck." she thinks. She, using the walls as a crutch, starts heading towards the staircase that leads down. However the fungus has grown over the outside of the doors, and fearing what might happen if she touches it she starts to think of how to get into the basement classroom halls. She looks around and sees a fire extinguisher.

"Ya know I have always wanted to use one of these..." Loco's voice fills her ears and grabs one out the lighter. She grabs one of the Molotovs out.

"This is for you Loc," she says, lighting one of the Molotovs, and throws it at the door, the door instantly is a flame and the fungus is burning off. She lights another, and throws it into the main building. Then another lighting up and tossing it at some of the chrysalis'. Until she is out of molotovs, and the building is alight in flame. The fire is starting to spread out through the main building.

She grabs the fire extinguisher, running into the basement, she blasts the basement door with its chemicals. She then kicks open the doors. She runs into the basement hall and at the far end she can see the fungus growing around the auditorium's basement doors. As she gets closer she can see that it is just a thin layer of fungus.
