Kova was jolted out of his restful sleep with eyes blazing yellow. His wolf had heard something that alerted him despite being deeply asleep, and it came from Bella's room. He was out of his bed in a second flat, ghosting across the floor before throwing Bella's door open silently. He had the presence of mind to ensure no wolfy traits were showing, just in case his cousin was awake. But he was ready if he needed to use them.

"Bella, is everything alright? I thought I heard-," Kova was saying, but stopped when he spotted who could only be Edward. The werewolf's nose was burning, which simply confirmed his original suspicions... the strange scent belonged to Edward.

Bella's descriptions earlier in the night had been correct. Bronze hair, high cheek bones, topaz eyes. But she left out the part where he really was gorgeous. Edward's skin was a pale ivory, and he was tall and thin with tousled hair even at this late hour. He was unnaturally beautiful. It made Kova even more suspicious.

"Koko?" Bella asked in slight confusion.

Clearly Edward had never been caught sneaking into Bella's room before. But then again, Kova was almost one hundred percent sure Charlie didn't have supernatural hearing... so it made sense. Bella was sitting up in bed, very much awake, with Edward stood just inside the window, his head cocked to the side as he observed the werewolf.

"Sorry, I should have knocked," Kova chuckled awkwardly, biting his lip.

Did Edward come in the window? How on Earth had he gotten up to the second floor window into Bella's room? Kova filed it away with the other odd things he'd already learned about the other male.

"It's okay," Bella murmured shyly, her cheeks pink.

"Uhh- I'm gonna... go back to bed," Kova pointed a thumb over his shoulder.

Bella was looking at Kova with wide, pleading
eyes, which made him roll his in mock annoyance before he grinned.

"No, Bells, I won't tell uncle Charlie," Kova winked, taking a final glance at the silent Edward before shutting the door. He wouldn't rat her out, but only because he had his own supernatural way of monitoring her safety.

Kova tucked himself back under the covers in his room, debating on whether or not he should listen in to what they were saying. He decided he would, simply because he was mildly concerned. The presence of the other had made his hair stand on end, and his wolf simmer awfully close to the surface. Something was off about Edward, and he would find out what it was before the other teen hurt his cousin any further.

"Is he upset?" Bella's voice asked. Kova wondered why she would be asking this question of Edward, but let it go for now.

"He seems concerned for your safety," A melodic voice responded.

Edward. God, even his voice was gorgeous in sound. What is he- a walking thirst trap?

"I'm worried about him, he's been through a lot," Bella's voice again. Kova's heart swelled at the words.

"I think having you and Charlie is just what he needs," Edward responded wisely.

"I hope so," Bella's voice was quiet now, sleepy.

"Sleep, my love," Edward crooned, and then came the rustling of blankets.

Kova decided that was enough, as his own eyelids began to droop again. He didn't want to be a walking corpse for his first day at a new school. He would unravel the new mystery that was Edward Cullen tomorrow.

Kova low whistled, "Sweet ride," he nodded in approval at Bella's classic, faded red Chevy.
