Misplaced trust

You woke up to Diluc still spooning you and you honestly felt so comfy, but escape was in order.

To your knowledge Diluc had done nothing wrong and you weren't entirely sure why you decided to escape but something in your gut was telling you to get out.

You decided on the tactic you used to escape Venti to escape from Diluc but it needed tweaking and a little more time.

Diluc was generally closed off so while you had gained his affections and care, you still had to gain his trust.

Slowly you started talking to him more and smiling whenever he gave you even the smallest bit of physical touch or kind words.

He'd often give you soft head pats that you didn't even have to force a smile for.

On this particular day he'd come home later than usual and you asked him about his day to see how he would respond to your interest.

"My day?" He asked seeming lost in thought.
"A young man with white hair and a red streak wouldn't stop staring at me all day but apart from that it was an uneventful shift." He said turning away from you to hang up his coat.

You were glad he had turned around because you had gone pale.
You clearly didn't compose yourself quickly enough because he noticed it.

His piercing gaze shot through you.

He looked like he was about to say something but you'd already hit the floor by then.

You woke up to Diluc playing with your hair. He had turned away from you looking out the windows.

His gaze had gone dark and empty apart from a small glimmer of anger. He noticed you'd woken up and his normal expression returned.

"(Y/N) are you okay?" He asked pulling you onto his lap.

"Diluc, that guy at the tavern, was he inazuman?" You asked looking up at him with puppy eyes.

"Yes. Why, was he the reason you were here in the first place?" You nodded.

Diluc was already aware that Kazuha played a part in you being here but he'd asked you to see if you'd tell him, and sure enough you did.

Another duty for the darknight hero.

This time it would be harder, Venti trusted Diluc ,or at least trusted his morals but from what Diluc had dug up about Kazuha he found that the boy was slippy and an excellent fighter, never mind the fact that he was very aware of his surroundings even when he was delirious.

What if he used (Y/N) as bait?

But that would be putting his darling in danger. He couldn't do that........

Or could he.

Kazuha was sneaky and seemed to be the silent stalker type so what if Diluc snuck up behind Kazuha while he followed you.

It was a perfect plan, if he snuck up on Kazuha then his darling wouldn't have to witness such a gruesome death.

Diluc was done hatching his plan but you had only just started.

'3rd times the charm' you thought putting your arms around his neck to pull yourself closer to him.

You had nearly built enough trust in Diluc to escape but you needed a reliable plan.

During your time at the winery he'd almost convinced you that he was a good guy but after what he said today your theories had almost been confirmed.

But how to play this?

Diluc outweighed you in strength, agility, brains, tactics and you name it.

Maybe you just needed an opening like when you escape Kazuha and Venti.

You'd chatted with Sucrose on the occasional walks you and Diluc had went on, Klee and Albedo too.

You had become close with the clumsy alchemist and you were sure she'd help you.

All you needed was a horse from the stables and a rainy night.

Diluc's pyro vision would be weakened by the rain so he wouldn't be able to use it to find you in the dark.

If it rained particularly heavily then it might even cover the horse's footsteps.

Sucrose may not be awake then but Albedo would definitely be.

Sucrose had once mentioned to you that on most days Albedo would go into dragonspine at night because of perfect experiment conditions.

You might be stuck at the winery for a bit but it would all be for a good reason.

It would be over soon and you wouldn't make any mistakes this time.
