Peony POV
I took my sweet time walking slowly towards the classroom. Huffing my breath as I pull all mights inside my heart and soul to once again facing this situation.
It's been a while since Yu acted out like that. But this time, it's serious. He punched someone at the cafeteria during lunch break. And, the boy now is at the hospital.
So, instead of normal detention, he got himself what we called a confinement. The school placed him solely inside an empty classroom, far from the school building. He will be under investigation for the battery, but I don't know what happened during the discussion.
The victim's family decided to withdraw the case.
As usual, I need to pick him up from detention; or in this care confinement as his class rep. Even though I felt heavy-hearted, this is my responsibility and I know I should put away anything personal.
But, can I face him alone after what happened between us?
***
Peony pushed the door slowly, peeking inside the room. She saw Yu, who was sitting on the table, staring outside the window. The window was small, and was put a bit higher. It's sad to say, the scene really looked like it was in prison.
"You are free to go," Peony tried to control her stutter. Especially, when Yu moved his head to the side and locked eyes with her.
The boy never bothered to move, not even an inch. He seemed so calm and probably adjusting himself in this dreadful situation.
Peony's heart slowly melted when she saw how calm he was. That face always made her lose the inner self battle whether she hated him or pity him.
So, to avoid any more sympathy, she stepped inside the classroom, grabbed his bag and shoved it to him. The sooner he left, the better.
"Let's go home," said Peony.
All of a sudden, she was jolting into a deep embrace. Instead of grabbing his bag, Yu decided to grab the lady and pulled her into a deep hug. Peony was too shocked to even properly breathe.
"What are you-"
"Just for five minutes..." Yu whispered, slowly to her. And again, Peony lost it. Her brain said no, but her heart felt the warmth, snuggled inside the hug.
No words exchange. No argument. No scream. Nothing. Just a sound of nature from the forest and fans that cool them down. Heart that beats moderately, with regulated breath from both of them.
"Five minutes is over," Peony shoved Yu's body away, but the guy held her shoulder tight and made her look at his eyes with those dark gaze.
"Let me go! You hurt me!" Peony squeaked a bit. After a few struggles, Yu let her go. Peony stepped back away from Yu.
The boy huffed as he snatched his bag from Peony. He swung the bag over his shoulder, ready to leave the room.
"Yu," Peony balled her fist, supressed the anger that boiled inside her. She had enough of Yu who always looking for trouble.
"Yes?" Yu respond.
"Why are you keep on looking for troubles? Aren't you feel tired of getting punishment? I am sick of all this! Everytime when you are in trouble, I am the one who needs to bail you, pick you up, giving you advice..." he looked at her, with stern face full of hatred.
"Can you, for once, being nice and decent to everyone? Stay away from trouble, let everyone living life in peace? At least give me a room to breathe? I am so sick and tired of asking apology on behalf of you and hold this responsible by myself!"
