Peony POV
Someone, please...
Someone, please help me!
I don't know how much further I can go. It's an endless road. Straight, endless road.
Dark.
Cold.
Dangerous.
I ran as fast as I could. I knew I got tailed all the way here. I knew if I stopped, it's the end of me.
My eyes got blurred by my tears. I wiped them and sprinted all the way. It was so far, so far away. I lost my will. I felt tired.
That's when I kicked my foot.
And I fell.

“No!!”
“Hey, calm down!”
My eyes were wide open. I looked around. It felt quite familiar; the surroundings. Blue curtains, a small study table, and that broken door frame.
“Is this...?”
“Thank God you're alive. Or else, Dr. Murray might lose his hand,” I turned my head aside.
It was Red. She dipped a soft hand towel into a clear basin filled with lukewarm water; based on the fog form from the basin.
“Dr. Murray?”
“The family doctor. It's unusual for him to treat someone from this household because we rarely get ill. But, you haven't woken up for almost two days. Plus, you kept crying out so badly. You were in a mess, girl," she dabbed my forehead with the damp towel.
I grabbed Red's hand and stared deep into Red's eyes.
“What happened?”
“You took the wrong path and got separated from Grey. It's a wrong move, but at least you're safe,” she put away the towel.
“Where is she?”
“Who?”
“Grey,” there was a brief pause before Red stood up.
“I'll fix something for you...”
“Where is Grey?”
Red ignored me and took the basin with her. I grabbed her hand tight.
“Tell me. Where is Grey? Is she safe? Tell me, Red!” with a long sigh, she opened her mouth.
“She's alive. But...”
“But?”
“She's in critical condition,”
“What?! How?!”
“She...”
“Red,” a man came and cut our conversation.
“I hope you like fish porridge,” she left the room hasty. I stare at the man who stood in front of the door frame.
“What happened to Grey? What's going on, Yu?!” he just kept silent while staring at me.
“Grey is stable. Don't worry about her. Just focus on your health...” I slowly woke up from my bed. Yu ran across the room to help me. At first, I refused but I realized I was too weak to even push him away.
“No. I wanna know how is Grey. Bring me to her...”
“No visitor in a meantime...”
“You have no idea...”
“Could you please listen to me...”
“I don't want people to die because of me!” I yelled at Yu. He stepped back a bit with a shock on his face.
“I hate the feeling of guilt! I refuse a life debt. There's no way I can live, knowing someone is almost dying because of me! You never knew this feeling... This feeling... It hurts!” my hand grasped my chest. Tears rolled from my eyes.
“No one is dying because of you. Grey was fighting for herself. You helped her by separating yourself from her. She might feel the burden if something happened to both of you. You lifted the burden from her. That's why she's alive and saved,” said Yu. He sat next to me, on the fluffy bed.
“She almost dies because of me...”
“Kill that thought, Peo. Things happened, and you were not to blame. At least, you're saved. Or else...”
“Or else?”
“I don't... I mean, Grey may not forgive herself. Forever,” Yu caressed my hair, in such a demure and delicate way.
“What's going on, Yu? Who are they? Why they attacked us?” my question got one only solid answer; silence.
“Answer me, Yu...”
“You need a rest...”
“I had enough sleep...”
“Eat first, then...”
“Answer me first...”
“You're not well...”
“Answer me, Yu Brunner!” I swear to God, this is my last straw. I had enough of people keeping things from me. Now, it's between life and death situation.
I deserve to know everything.
“Seems like you're healthy enough,”
“I can even punch you now. Don't tempt me,” Yu stared at me, in shock.
But, to my surprise, he slowly giggled before shaking his head a bit.
“You're getting feisty day by day, did you realize that?”
“Blame your rogue daily regime if you hate this side of mine,” I tried to stand up from the bed, of course with help from Yu.
“Where are you going?”
“Eat. I need to recover fast, so I can take my revenge,” Yu gripped my hand tight.
“That's not easy,”
“I don't care. Plus, my life had been at stake. Ma said, treat people nice. Even your enemy. But that's my mom...” I stare at Yu with my small eyes.
“I'm not my mom.”

I brushed my finger against the long slender hand. Staring at the body tangled with wires from the life support machine. After I'm done praying and crying, I changed the fresh flower in the vase next to the bed. It's been my routine since two weeks ago. No one gives me a reason behind all this. But, it's like a wake-up call to the real world for me. I never asked Yu why. I wasn't sure why I did that. But, since that day, everything changed so much.
I'm focusing more and more on the intense rogue regime. The more I pour my effort, the more I feel powerful. I never create a reason anymore. I present on time, almost every morning, without fail.
I learned something from these events. I value myself more and more. I even feel proud of myself and appreciate what's in store for me; past, present or future. I was glad to meet Yu, well... Even though he is a pain in the ass. At least, he did bring out the best in me.
“Are you done?”
I nodded my head and drew a smile toward Yu. He was standing in front of the room, slanting his body against the door frame.
“Is it jiujitsu today?” I casually took the helmet from him.
“No. Let's go somewhere else.”
