Peony POV

I stare the scenery outside the window, clenching my forearm tight. Watching the green grass field that facing the room. Such a mellow scene.

Unspeakable.

I stare at the man who is sitting on a chair, reading probably. I can see the book that he's been holding. The same book that he held before, when I fetched him everytime he got detention.

Always the same book.

Talking about him. He's between being generous, yet vicious. The way he treated me last night.

I sigh as I remember how his reaction. Cold as ice, ignorance. And me, devastated. Feels like being hit by multiple amount of bullets, straight into the heart.

I don't blame him. It was I who choose to leave at first.

Trust. Now, I have some issue regarding on that.

Trust.

Sometimes, I'm asking myself. Am I choosing a right side? Am I choose wrong? I admit that I am bad in making decision. I used to let emotion blurred my judgement. Trust the wrong side. Now, I'm the one who got the hardest blow.

Now what? How can I face what's in front of me in the future?

"As we know, you gonna stay here for a while..." Grey pulled a chair in front of Peony. Now, they were in a room, a home office. Just next to Yu's bedroom on the second floor.

Peony kept her posture tight. She was anxious but after what happened last night, she mentally prepared herself for the incoming consequences.

Last night, she ran out from Benji's apartment building after learning the truth about Benji and her friend.. well, ex-friend; Tina. Feeling betrayed, she left the scene in hasty. Not thinking about her own safety, she recklessly crossed the road.

And guess what?

She almost got hit by a car.

Luckily, the car stopped even before the front bumper could touch those fragile legs. Still, she slammed on the road. Not because of the impact.

Because she tried her best to compose her anger and frustrated inside. That made her legs turn jelly.

The best part?

The car belonged to whom happened to be her saviour.

Yu Brunner.

Come to think of it, she's lucky that he's not the driver. She will get hit by the car if he's the one who drive.

100% positive.

"I hope you wouldn't mind with some grammatic error. I made this in hasty. Hmph, I hate last minute chores," Grey slid a black hard cover file on the table, right in front of Peony.

"What is this?" asked Peony. Grey sighed as she pinched her nose bridge.

"Ah, you're a teen! What did I expect?" Peont bleamed a bit.

Guess she would have to bear with Grey's sarcastic quotes from now on!

"As per request by the owner of the house; quote here, Mister Yu Brunner, hereby, Miss Peony Lee shall follow these rules and regulation as the tenant-"

"Tenant?"

"You hate that? Well, you should see the original script. Yu quoted you as the slave..." again, Peony shrunk herself in the executive chair.

"As the newest tenant, Miss Lee shall perform these rules and follow some terms to avoid herself from getting banish from the Brunner Resident..."

Peony took the file from the table and opened it slowly. She studied the contract one by one.

--

Rule #1
Miss Lee shall follow the house chores schedule; like the rest of the member of the family. Additional term; Miss Lee shall pays more detail regarding on Mister Brunner's needs.

--

"I- don't understand..." Grey gritted her teeth. She took a deep breath.

"You need to do house chores, just like us. But, in addition, you need to serve Yu the utmost. You need to take care of his welfare..."

"I am not his nanny..."

"So am I to you, so I don't care. That also include..."

--

1. Wait for him to return home; anytime possible, even during midnights.

2. You are not allowed to have dinner without him.

--

"Sounds like a control freak..."

"What did you expect? A charitable guy? Every noble act must get profitable in the end. That's how the world works nowadays, Miss Lee," Grey took her 3rd sip of the nice, freshly brewed coffee.

Peony looked at the next term.

--

Rule #2
Any decision shall need to be discuss first with Mister Bruner.

--

"Well, this will deny my freedom of speech..." Peony murmured a bit.

"Sounds harsh, but it's important to respect the owner of the house. Why, you wanna live like a barbaric?" Grey gave her a snare look.

"It's not what I mean. But, I am an adult, and I can make my own decision," said Peony.

"Mister Brunner believes that you have some difficulties to differentiate between the good decision and bad decision. Judging from what happened last night," Grey pointed her pen towards Peony and smirked a bit.

Peony felt small in front of this woman. In anyway possible, she hoped that this discussion will end soon.

"So, are you agree with these term?" asked Grey after they finished reviewing all terms and condition.

"Do I have any choice?" asked Peony.

"You can just kill him, the first time both of you met. It will change the course. Now, it's too late," Grey passed a pen to Peony. Reluctantly, she took it and stared at the file.

After some time, Peony put down her signature. She pushed the file towards Grey. The lady smirked and nodded.

"Great! Now, you're ready to fall deep into the hell. So, here is your schedule. Make sure to follow those without a fail," Peony grabbed the paper from Grey.

"Jiujitsu? Shooting? Are you sure?" her eyes almost popped out. For Peony, this schedule was too bizzare for a normaly like her.

Normaly.

"Good luck then..." Grey chuckled as she left Peony, questioning her own decision. From afar, the girl could have heard a sinister laugh, echoeing across the hall.

Peony POV

For the sake of my safety, I have no choice. I have no one to rely on at this moment. No parents, no family, no friends.

No one. Only these people.

If I need to swim in fire, I will. If this will give me a roof, I'll do it.

Even if I lose myself.

Even if I need to sell my soul to the evil.

The evil that stood up right in front of me. With a book on his hands.

Staring at me with his dark sight.
