"Warrior, good! I knew you shouldn't have been on that cart the minute I laid eyes on you," Hadvar praised as Vae walked back towards him. "Listen, as far as I'm concerned you've earned your pardon. But until we get that confirmed by General Tullis, just stay clear of other Imperial Soldiers and avoid any complications, all right?"
"Alright." Vaemona agreed, her mind still not set on wether or not she planned to join the legion. Something rustled in the bushes near by. Vaemona drew her bow and nocked an arrow, her eyes scanning the rocks above the path. Suddenly, a wolf jumped in front of her. It bared its fangs, a crazed hunger glowing in its eyes. She pulled the string back, the arrow aimed directly at the creature's heart. But as she stared into its eyes, the hunger changed to fear and it began to back away. Without thought she lowered her bow and got on her knees. Slowly, carefully, she extended her arm. The wolf laid its ears down and lowered its head, cautiously approaching her. It sniffed her hand for a moment before cheerfully jumping on top of her and licking at her face. She laughed, gently petting between its fuzzy ears. Hadvar came running over to her, ready to attack but she stood and yelled for him to stop.
"It's friendly." Vaemona warned, getting out from under the wolf and putting herself between it and Hadvar. Hadvar stared at her with an expression one could only describe as dumbfounded.
"It's a wild animal. You shouldn't play with it you should kill it." The wolf growled, protectively stepping in front of Vaemona. Hadvar raised his bow towards it, and the wolf leaned back on its haunches in response.
"Stop! You're right, it is a wild animal. An animal who is only protecting its home, which is what you or I would do if our homes were threatened. What right do we have to kill it for that?" Hadvar huffed and walked passed her, muttering heatedly to himself. Vaemona gave the wolf a final pet before ordering it to 'stay' and following Hadvar. They had been walking down this path for quite a while now, surely it couldn't be much further Vae hoped.
After a few more minutes of running a structure came into sight. A stone wall supported by wooden columns was built around either side of the path. There were guards stationed along the top, though none of them seemed to be paying much attention to anything other than each other. And why should they? This sleepy village probably didn't see much action, so they had no need for suspicion. There seemed to be only one main road, the path they were on, and it ran directly through until it passed under another wall that marked the end of the village. The buildings were simple one-to-two story cottages, some of which made into shops others made into homes for the locals. Vaemona was grateful to spot an Inn at the end of the town, finally somewhere she could rest.
"Things look quiet enough here. Come on. There's my uncle." Hadvar smiled, the relief on his face evident. Vaemona followed him to the blacksmith who he greeted.
"Shor's bones, what happened to you, boy?" The blacksmith spoke, his voice heavy with worry. "Are you in some kind of trouble?"
"Shh..Uncle please. Keep your voice down. I'm fine. But we should go inside to talk."
"What's going on? And who is this?"
Vaemona opened her mouth to talk but Hadvar cut her off- "She's a friend. Saved my life in fact. Come on, I'll explain everything, but we need to go inside."
"Okay, okay. Come inside, then. Sigrid will get you something to eat and you can tell me all about it." Vaemona's stomach growled. Now that she thought about it, she hadn't eaten since she arrived in Skyrim the previous morning, and it was already late day. Vaemona made sure to stay behind Hadvar, out of respect for his family's home as they entered the house.
A/N Holy Tardis of Gallifrey! I am Sher-locked onto this fan fic. To be honest I didn't used to update very often but lately it's just been chapter by chapter and I'm still not slowing down...it's almost...Not-natural...maybe even..Supernatural. I may just be a chunin half demon in search of shikon jewels but hear me now..by Emrys' beard I solemnly swear that I am up to no good. One does not simply start a fan fiction and not finish it, so may the odds be ever in my favor as I write so fervently the gods of Olympus hear the melodic click-clack of my keyboard keys.
