The summer air was hot and thick. It almost felt as if when you took a deep breath in, your throat suddenly caught fire. Maybe she shouldn't just breathe? Maybe she should just stop breathing?

Would that even work?

She sat in her bare empty room that was made for her a week ago. She felt lifeless. Soulless. Alone. How could she be related to...a monster?

And then her minds reminds her..

She's a monster just like him.

"My Mother has requested you downstairs" Draco said opening the door. She could see his trembling hands. His scared pale face. He had the same one ever since she came to live here. She couldn't blame him. She didn't blame him.

She would be scared of her too.

She got up quietly and walked down the stairs glancing at all the paintings with the very same white hair.

She seen Mattheo sitting down at the kitchen table but made no eye contact with him. How could she? He was astonished when he had found out about their father. Amazed actually. He wanted to know more. He wanted to learn more.

She just wanted to curl up and die.

"I need you to sign here dearie" Narcissa said smiling at the girl. She was a kind soul with too many stress lines on her face. She tried to make them feel as welcome as she could.

She took the parchment in her hand and read the thin lines of very faint words. She looked at Narcissa again with raised eyebrows.

"The Dark Lord...your father said it is vital that you have a important last name. When you enter Hogwarts... our last name will guarantee you a spot" she said softly and the girl just nodded once signing her name where it said.

Katerina Malfoy

"When do we start?" Mattheo said standing up out of his seat.

"You go September 1st. I will be meeting with Dumbledore in about a weeks time." She said.

Katerina walked away and entered the garden where she thought she be alone but she was wrong.

Very wrong.

"Sorry I'll leave-" Draco said crushing his cigarette in a rush but she stopped him.

"I'm not going to kill you. I came out here to do the same thing" she said pulling out the muggle cigarettes she stole before she got kidnapped.

Only one left.

Draco sat there quietly as she sat next to him. Stiff as a board and quiet like a mouse.

"Your anxiety is giving me anxiety" she said and he laughed but quickly hid it. She turned to him handing him her now lit cigarette.

"I didn't ask for this" she said quietly trying to calm her shaking hands. Draco looked at them as he took the cigarette very hesitantly.

"I didn't either" he said. It was the first word he had spoken to her Willingly. It was small. Full of shakiness and despair.

"My mother wants me to tutor you. Make sure you're up to date so when you take the test you pass and make it into 5th year" he said handing her the cigarette back. His fingers were long and pale.

She hummed in response. She didn't know what to say. She honestly didn't want to go but did she even have a choice.

No.

No she didn't.

"Guess that makes us study buddies huh?" She said finally meeting his eye. They were a light blue just like the sky on a bright sunny day. They almost gave her comfort. Making her remember a time where she was genuinely happy.

How brief that memory is.

"I guess so" he said with a small smile. It was weird. He looked at her side profile. He was so scared of her. Of her father. The man who destroyed his family. Yet here he is. Staring at a girl who looks even more scared than him. He was confused. The daughter of the dark lord...was sharing a cigarette with him? It didn't make any sense.

"You can stop staring now" she said and he blushed and turned away. "Sorry I was daydreaming" he said scratching the back of his head.

She stared...only for a minute and then suddenly her face lit up.

"Do you have any weed?" She said and he scrunched up his eyebrows.

"What is weed?" He said and her face lit up in excitement.

"Oh boy you're in for a treat...think of it as a celebration for newly kind of fucked up siblings" she said and he gasped as she took his hand and apparated away with him.

Maybe they won't be that bad?
