my second year of university akaashi's second year of university. the urge to drop out and join the v.league is strong. but i ignore it. i need a degree.
it will take four years. the only way i'm dropping out is if i get a sponsor, and i haven't received any offers yet. the team out of japan has tryouts soon, i might say fuck it and go tryout.
i'm twenty years old now, believe it or not. time seems to have been moving so quickly since my life began coming together. i've been visiting both yuki and akaashi frequently. yuki seems to be in a stable home situation at the moment, so i've been doing my best not to worry about her and focus on myself instead, like i should have gotten to do throughout highschool. it feels nice to only have to worry about myself.
i know i don't have to worry about akaashi, he's responsible enough to take care of himself and i can contact him whenever i need to. he's also handy for taking tests. i just bring him my notes then he can read them to me. i've received nineties on all of my tests so far.
riko, satsuki and i sit stretching together. all three of us made it through our rookie years, and we've all returned to the team to play in our second.
i've become good friends with both of them, and we've actually all moved in together in an apartment just off campus. we decided to stop staying on residence.
akaashi's really proud of me for being able to make friends. i'm proud of myself too.
"when are tryouts, [name]?" riko asks me, pulling her legs into the butterfly stretch.
"they're in two months. i think i'll just go to see what it's like, even if i don't make it, it's good to see what level i need to get to." i reply, moving to touch my toes.
"i doubt you'll be very far behind." satsuki chips in. "you went to japans national highschool training camp, and you were a standout, were you not?"
i shrug. "i suppose."
we go silent for a little while. i decide to check in on akaashi.
"how's your day going?" i ask, stretching my back.
"good to hear from you." akaashi jokes. "it's going well, thank you for asking, love. how's yours going?"
talking to him like this makes me miss him. maybe i'll have time to visit him when our teams playing at his university this weekend. "mines going well. just about to start practice." i reply. before i can say anything else, my team is called into a huddle. "gotta go. i love you."
