☹︎
"want to to the beach?" akaashi asks. it's seven in the morning. he still lays in bed while i prepare for my morning run.
for some reason i've been dismissed from practice for the day, so i planned on going for a longer run and then lifting this afternoon.
"for how long? besides, we can't even swim the waters too cold." i reply, adjusting the edge of my sleeve.
"forget your run. let's just go now." he yawns, sitting up. the blankets fall as he sits straight, exposing his bare chest. "please?"
"fine." i sigh, pulling off my running clothes. "why the beach? it's freezing."
"i like the beach in the winter." he murmurs, swinging his legs off the side of the bed.
"put some clothes on." i joke as i dig through my drawer for a suitable sweater.
i hear him chuckle. he gets up and kisses me on the forehead before he walks to the dresser where his clothes are stored.
i choose a black, oversized zip up sweater. i pair it with some greyish-blue coloured cargos. once i'm dressed i leave the bedroom and wander into the kitchen.
akaashi does this thing where he picks his outfit after i've picked my outfit so he can wear a similar one. i think it's his version of pda.
akaashi emerges from the bedroom wearing black straight leg pants and a greyish-blue sweater.
"do you want to eat before we go?" i ask, preparing to take the creamcheese out of the fridge.
akaashi nods, taking two bagels out of their bag. i pull out the creamcheese. akaashi cuts both bagels down the middle before he puts both of them in the toaster.
i wait patiently with my creamcheese.
we stand in silence for the duration of time the bagels are toasting. i jump a little when the toaster pops. fuck toasters.
akaashi takes the bagels out of the toaster and places them on tow separate plates. he slides them to me and i apply the creamcheese.
"when did you decide you liked creamcheese bagels again?" akaashi asks, taking a bite of his bagel.
"i don't know. last week i think." i murmur, putting the two sides of the bagel back together.
"should i get more when i go grocery shopping tomorrow?"
"probably." i smile, biting off a large chunk of bagel. "what jacket should i wear?" i shuffle over to the closet by the front door.
"your puffer. ocean wind is no joke." akaashi answers, his words muffled by the bagel in his mouth.
"are you wearing your puffer?" i narrow my eyes.
my question is met by silence. he's doing it again. "no?"
"you're going to aren't you."
"okay yes i was." he sounds embarrassed. "i like matching with you." i glance back into the kitchen to see him frowning.
"fine i'll wear my puffer." i mutter.
☹︎
"it's freezing keiji." i shiver. the wind off the ocean goes right through my jacket.
"you're okay." he murmurs, pulling me closer by my waist.
akaashi is right. the ocean is great in the early winter. the only downside is the wind, but the view is worth it.
i prefer the beach in the summer though. i feel like i'm going to roll my ankle on the uneven parts of the frozen sand.
akaashi's body is surprisingly warm. his fingers and hands are usually cold, so you'd expect him to be cold as well.
i feel a little guilty skipping my morning run and my afternoon lift, but skipping both to spend time with akaashi is definitely worth it. i enjoy our days together. although i don't exactly know how he got work off.
"so why'd you bring me out here?" i ask, nudging him with my hip.
"i just want to spend some time with my wonderful girlfriend." he smiles at me. his smile is perfect.
"there's gotta be something keiji. you had to have a reason to take work off." i give him an unimpressed look.
i watch him hide his face in his scarf. he's very obviously blushing. i haven't seen him blush this deeply since the first time we met.
"you know i love you, right [name]?" he asks, taking his scarf off.
i nod. "i love you too keiji." he wraps his scarf around me.
"i wanted to ask you something." his hand fumbles around in his jacket pocket.
"ask away." i'm now starting to get a little nervous.
"[name]." my eyes widen as he gets down on one knee. "will you marry me?" he pulls a small box out of his jacket pocket. he opens it, revealing a gorgeous ring.
i stare at him breathlessly, trying to pull myself together. instead of speaking i nod. i take off the glove on my right hand, allowing him to slip the ring onto my ring finger.
akaashi stands and embraces me. he then pulls away before closing the gap between us again, kissing me deeply. i'm fighting back tears.
i didn't think i would be this happy when he finally proposed. i knew we would be together forever. we're soulmates. i knew he would propose eventually and that we would eventually get married.
"i would love to marry you."
