THIRD POV:

Leafy stretches her legs and lets out a sigh. She was glad Firey took how she was feeling into consideration..but it also felt awkward sitting beside him once again. It had been too long, and for good reason too. Leafy never really expected to see a day when she'd feel his warmth again.

But to her surprise, she was enjoying it.

'I miss the old days when we'd hang out..'

"Err...Leafy.."

'..when we had no worries..'

"Leafy?"

'..when there were just simple, fun challenges!'

"Leafy!"

Leafy snaps out of thought to see Firey tugging her shoulder. He seemed panicked.

"Huh? What's up?"

Firey gestures for Leafy to look outside, and she glances over. She sees that, despite the rain lightening up, the water is beginning to flood its way from the forest into the cave. It was a slow flow, but to Firey, it was at an alarming rate.

"That's not too good for me for..obvious reasons, could we move more into the cave?"

Leafy was unfamiliar with the cave. She did not know how deep it went or if anything lived in it. But, what she did know was they would be sitting ducks with the water coming in. She didn't want to put her.. "friend" in a dangerous position, if she could even consider him that.

"Oh uh-of course!" she says.

Firey stands up and Leafy follows. Together, they would walk toward the darkness of the cave.

The cold, wet, and uncomfortable atmosphere begins to get to Leafy. She shivers and occasionally stands closer to Firey for warmth. The two come to a stop, waiting to see if they are far enough to be safe. The trail of water shows itself once again, flooding its way in faster than the soil could absorb it.

Firey scoffs, "I knew caves tended to flood quickly, but I didn't think it would be this quick." He kicks a small pebble and grumbles in frustration.

Leafy sees how distressed Firey was beginning to get, and thinks of how she could help. With some thinking, something comes to mind. She pulls out a yoyleberry and stretches it out to him.

"I forgot but...I have some yoyleberries on me. I always carry some because...well, you never know what situations you can get into." She chuckles to herself, "..you could have one so the water doesn't distinguish you."

Firey stares at the berry, before reluctantly reaching for it. He lays his hand on top of the berry, but, without taking it, he begins to reconsider.

'If I eat it...then we wouldn't have a source of light, huh? And we'd also...'

The flame stares blankly as his thoughts begin to fog his brain. Leafy looks at Firey in confusion, then back to the yoyleberry she holds. Finally, Firey shakes his head. He takes his hand off the berry and puts it under Leafy's, making her hand ball up around the berry, before pushing it back toward her.

"I think it would be better if you ate it...just to be safe from anything in here, you are kinda fragile. I shouldn't take it, we sorta need the light..."

But Leafy wasn't paying attention to what Firey was saying. Her heart skips a beat at the sight of Firey's hand on hers. Firey stares at her, before realizing his current hand state, and pulls away quickly. He turns to look away, but she swears she could've seen a faint blush appear on his face.

"...Just eat the berry and let's move on," Firey begins as he walks past her.

Leafy stands for a bit, processing what had just happened.

'Maybe..we could fix things, maybe have everything go back to normal. Oh, what a dream it would be to have my best friend back.'

She smiles at the thought, before consuming the berry and turning metal. She then turns to catch up with Firey, who is a few steps ahead.

"Oh, and Leafy.."

She stops in her tracks as he speaks up, the tone in his voice sending chills down her spine. Firey turns ever so slightly, and with only half of his face showing, he glares at her. She feels her heart drop, as his gaze melts the joy she had just felt mere seconds ago.

"Don't think that we're on good terms. I haven't forgotten what you did."
