Third POV:
Leafy keeps her eyes on the ground as she feels her cheeks begin to burn, it was such an embarrassing situation she was in. Firey stays by her side, still holding onto her hand.
"Do...you need anything?"
'Not like there's much to get around here.'
She only lets out a deep exhale, and gently pulls her hand away from his. She then lays down again and turns, moving into the sleeping position she was once in. Fiery wasn't sure how to reply to her lack of response. He looks to the ground for a second, then at Leafy, before reaching out to hold her shoulder in means of comfort.
But he stops himself and retracts his hand.
'...'
He takes his eyes away and looks up at the cave's ceiling. Only cold, gray stone surrounds them, providing no idea of what leads where. He figures they would have to take the tunnel they came from. Eventually, Firey lays on his back and continues to drift away in thought, he doesn't feel the need to sleep.
'Is it right? It's okay to care for an old friend, even after what they've done...' He glances over to Leafy as he thinks, '...but it doesn't feel right.'
He watches as Leafy begins to mumble and turns over, and spots a bit of drool coming from her mouth. Firey couldn't help but chuckle, that was sure Leafy. He didn't understand how looking at her made him feel so soothed...but at the same time, so angry. He found it hard to hold a grudge against her, especially for years.
Yet he couldn't find a way to let go.
* * *
Time passes by, and Leafy awakes herself lightheaded. Squinting her eyes, she was welcomed once again to the gray stone around her. She sits up and yawns, which catches the attention of Firey.
"Oh, you're up," he says as he sits up too, stretching before standing up. "We should get going then, I don't know how long we've been gone."
Leafy nods, stumbling slightly as she pushes herself to stand. Firey takes the lead, and walks down the tunnel they once came from. The two stay silent while walking, especially Leafy. There was just so much on her mind. Her sudden outburst and Firey's..simple, yet comforting gestures. She feels heat crawl up her cheeks as she thinks about how much Firey has held her hand. First with the yoyleberry...and now this.
'There's no meaning to it...there's no meaning to it. You're overthinking it, Leafy!''
Her thinking is cut short as she feels her head throb once more. Firey's walking soon comes to a halt, causing Leafy to stop too.
"Uh...which turn did we take?"
She snaps back to reality and looks up at the tunnel that is divided into two. "Oh...I think it was left...?"
Firey glances at the leaf, "Are you sure?"
"Uh..positive?"
She was not positive.
Firey raises a brow. He is doubtful but still takes the left turn. Leafy feels a sense of dread, but she keeps silent. The two continue their walk down the tunnel and the environment continues to be unfamiliar. There was a chance that they had not even come to this part of the cavern before.
"Leafy, are you sure we've passed here before?" Firey asks, glancing around the place.
Leafy stares at the ground and shuffles her feet, before looking up to speak, "Y-yeah. Yeah! It has to be!" She says with a smile and nervously walks forward past Firey. "It's probably just more into the tunnel!"
