Life changes ( sequel to love never dies )

It's been about one week and a half and Serena is still in the hospital recovering from her car accident but she's getting released soon which means she gets to come back to work. I'm not going to lie, work had been a little awkward with her gone and I'm still trying to avoid Emily a little bit, even though she and I are doing slightly better. I want to fully trust what Emily told me, but I'm still cautious about it, so I've been keeping my distance.

Sutton has been nothing but friendly to me, even tho she keeps on pushing me to work with Emily. I think she just sees potential. She was happy that I've worked with Lily on her debut EP and with Olivia, but somehow Emily seems more important to her. I know Emily use to be dying to work with me and maybe it's time. Right now I'm internally arguing with myself about if I should request Emily to meet me in my office by sending her an email or if I should just walk over to her and ask her in person.

Eventually, I decided to send her a text, getting straight to the point.

Beca: Are you still interested in working together? 🤔

I add the emoji because I know Emily can't resist them and almost instantly a scream is heard from Emily's desk. I look over and see her making her way toward me. Without knocking Emily barged through the door.

,,Are you serious or is this a mean prank? Because you've still been avoiding me a little." I look up at her and see her clutching onto her songbook, one that I got her back when we were still in the Bella's and she had just started writing songs. She has a look of desperation on her face. I can't help but show a small smile at how excited she seems.

I stand up from my desk and walk over to Emily, so I'm in front of her, which means I have to crane my neck up to make eye contact since she's taller than me.

,,I'm aca - serious." I say to her and she screams again. Happy and surprised that I've used an old Bella's saying. She pulls me into a hug, which I didn't expect but it feels nice to be able to make her happy. ,,How many songs do you have finished in there?" I point towards her songbook.

,,A lot." She says, laughing. ,,I've been writing songs during the time you were missing."

,,Why haven't you brought them out already?" I ask her curiously.

,,Because I didn't want to work with anyone else but you. I kept them a secret from everyone else, well Sutton saw one and couldn't understand why I only wanted to write for other artists. She accepted my decision but I could tell she was disappointed."

,,Well, let me see." Emily gives me her songbook and I flip through the pages. ,,There are a lot of potential songs in here, but I think it's better to start with eight songs so people in the world can get used to your voice. It will be your debut EP, if you agree to that." I see Emily think. ,,Or we can make those eight songs your debut album and produce two EP albums after that?" Emily nods now and looks like she's about to cry. ,,Em? Are you okay? Is this too much for you? If you're more comfortable doing a single first, we can do that too." She doesn't say anything about that and I pity that because this way I can't help her. ,,Please, say something." I look at Emily, almost begging for her reaction. I don't want her to be sad. Emily looks at the ceiling for a moment and then back at me with tears still threatening to fall.

,,I just can't believe you want to work with me after all this time. I thought you still hated me based on the fact that you had still been avoiding me at work." Once she says the last sentence, the tears start to flow and she's sobbing now. I'm never good at this sort of situation, that was always Chloe's specialty. I move over to Emily and just hug her. I hold her while her tears continue to fall.

,,I never hated you Em, I just pushed everyone away because it was easier and I'm sorry I didn't listen to you, you deserved better than that. I get it if you're not ready or willing to work with me yet, but I would like to help you get your music out into the world." She pulls away from the hug, wipes her eyes, and nods.
