Sir Lim’s summons to the meeting room felt like a death knell. Clark, ever the impatient one, blurted out, “Ano po ‘yun, Sir Lim?”
Sir Lim, a man who seemed to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders, leaned back. “May pumapatay ng mga CEO ng hotel dito sa buong Baguio. I’ve come up with a solution to stop it.”
Alex gasped, a hand flying to her mouth. “Hala, nakakatakot naman, kala ko tumigil na sya kasi ilang buwan nang walang nagtatangka. Pero ngayon ito naman sya umaatake!"
My heart pounded. “Ano kayang magiging plano natin ngayon?” I asked.
Sir Lim’s gaze landed on me. “The suspect’s next target is Denvierr Ace Monforte. Chloe, you’ll be his secretary. You need to watch his every move.”
Me? “Sir, pwede namang si Alex nalang?” I protested.
Sir Lim’s voice hardened. “Chloe, it’s you. Alex and Clark will back you up if you need it.” He left without another word.
After my meeting with Sir Lim, a wave of relief washed over me. Then Clark announced, "Tara, samgyeopsal! Treat ko!"
“Sige,” I agreed, needing the distraction.
Alex looked crestfallen. "I'm really sorry, guys," he said. "hindi ako makakasama. We have a family dinner. Next time, for sure."
Clark smiled at me. “Ah, sige. Kami nalang ni Chloe.”
Alex’s eyes pleaded. “Bebs, pwede makihiram ng car mo?”
“Alright, kay Clark nalang ako sasabay,” I said, handing her the keys. “bye guys, Minamadali na ako nila Mommy,” she said before leaving.
“Tara, Chloe,” Clark said, opening the car door.
“Thank you,” I murmured, settling into the car.
“Saan mo ba gustong kumain? Samgyeopsal?” he asked, his gaze intense.
“Wag na doon. Sa may Hot Chicken Wings nalang,” I suggested.
“Okay, sige,” he said, starting the engine.
I drifted off, the drive surprisingly short. “Chloe, gising na. Nandito na tayo,” Clark’s gentle voice woke me. His face was inches from mine. I straightened up. “Ay, nandito na pala tayo. Sorry kung nakatulog ako, ah.”
