Before we get into all of this I would like to thank you all for 2K reads! I've actually felt really motivated lately to get more chapters out because school starts in a week -_-
Anyways, as a brief description of my headcanon on how death works.
When someone dies, their body doesn't despawn so their soul can return to its body. There is a cemetery that people can make little headstones to mark how many lives they have lost. Once, someone is fully dead, they can be buried in the cemetery.
When someone dies, their soul is not immediately put back into their body. The soul is free to roam for about a day, but no one can hear or see them.

"H-holy shit..." Tommy said.
"I think I'm gonna be sick," Tubbo said, holding his stomach and turning to the side.
Sapnap looked at the scene in front of him. It was kind of hard to see, it was dark outside. "I'm gonna go get help!" he yelled, running towards the community house.
"No, go to L'manburg! Get Techno or Phil! Someone just please go get help!" Tommy yelled, clutching Y/n's lifeless body.
Ranboo looked down in shock at the dead girl. Was she really dead?
He bent down towards her, grabbing her wrist and checking her pulse.
Nothing. She was actually dead.
Tubbo was crying hysterically, holding his head in his hands and screaming.
Reality had set in for all three of them, Y/n, their best friend, their sister, was gone. Not permanently, but still dead.
Ranboo felt a stinging feeling on his cheek, and a smoky mist emitted from his cheek. He was crying.
Tommy was lightly tapping her cheek.
"Come on, Y/n. Please, don't leave me." He cried quietly.
The boys looked at her body, her clothes were covered in blood.
But her eyes...
Her eyes were black. Much like they had been when Tommy had been dying.
Tubbo crawled towards the other two boys, extending his arms out to Ranboo.
Ranboo pulled towards Tubbo and rubbed his back gently as he cried.
"What the hell is going on?!" A voice yelled. The boys looked up to see Techno, Phil, and Niki.
"It's Y/n! She's fucking dead!" Tommy yelled. Techno dropped down to her.
"Have you checked a pulse?" Niki asked. Ranboo nodded, "Yes! She doesn't have one!" Ranboo exclaimed.
Wilbur, Jack, and the others had run behind them as well. "What's going on?" Wilbur panted, he looked down, "Oh my gods,"
Fundy looked around shiftily. Wilbur turned around.
"You didn't do this to her, did you? And don't lie to me, boy." Wilbur interrogated, grabbing him by the collar.
"I didn't! I promise!" he yelled, "I was with Niki! Tell him, Niki!"
Wilbur turned around to look at the pink-haired girl. She nodded, "He was with me, Will."
"She wasn't on her last life, was she?" Jack asked. Tommy yelled, "No! But she's still dead, Jack!"
"Tommy, calm down-" Phil said, only to be cut off by Tommy screaming, "No, don't tell me to calm down. Yeah, she may not be on her last life, but she's dead! Sure, she'll be back, but that doesn't change the fact that my best fucking friend is dead!"
Phil stepped backwards in shock, he didn't expect Tommy to react like that. No one really expected it.
At this point, most people had been woken up by the screaming and they began coming out of their houses to investigate the noise.
The first person to notice was Punz, who came up behind Jack, asking what had happened, and Jack filled him in on the situation.
Another person had made their way over to the scene. It was Eret.
"What do you want, traitor?" Wilbur spat. "Now, now. Is that the proper way to speak to a king?" Eret asked.
"You are not my king. L'manburg is a free nation, my nation!" Wilbur exclaimed. "Well, it only remains your nation if you win this election." Eret chuckled.
"Now is not the time, damn it!" Techno interjected.
"What do you need, your highness?" Wilbur said sarcastically. "That's so much better!" Eret said.
"I only came over to see what was happening, you guys are quite loud, you know." He remarked, "Is that Y/n?"
When L'manburg was just starting to form, she and Eret were very good friends. He was like an elder brother to her. She wouldn't leave her room for a few weeks after the war because she was devastated that he would betray them like that.
"Yes, she's d-dead," Tubbo said through tears, clutching harder to Ranboo.
Eret pulled a notebook and pen out of the pocket of his cloak. He wrote something down and quickly put it away.
"I will have a headstone made and placed for her by tomorrow." he said, "Goodbye, Wilbur."
He swiftly turned around. Walking gracefully back towards his palace.
"He's making her a headstone?" Tommy said, "He never does that! He didn't do that for me!"
"Well, Tommy, you have to think about the fact that 1 of your lives was literally taken by him," Wilbur said.
"Uhm, I hate to interrupt, but we should really take her body back to L'manburg," Niki said.
Everyone looked around at each other.
"Good luck. Hope she recovers well." Punz stated before walking back towards his house.
Techno hoisted the girl up onto his shoulder easily.
"Please don't drop her." Tubbo said, Techno chuckled. "You think this is my first time carrying a body? You're very mistaken, kiddo." He said, gaining a laugh from Phil.
"You're a psychopath." Phil laughed.
"I prefer creative," Techno remarked.
The group laughed. It's what they needed.
So much had happened within the last week, but they wouldn't trade it for the world. Well, if they had a do-over, maybe they would've skipped the whole "Y/n dying" part.
But, you know what they say. Everything happens for a reason. Maybe she was meant to die tonight.
But something deep in Ranboo's mind is wishing that he had told her how he had felt about her as soon as she had kissed him. Maybe all of this stuff wouldn't have happened.
What if she doesn't remember kissing him? What if she doesn't remember him?
All of these questions are left unanswered for now, but I think we all know what outcome he hopes for.
