If shock could explain what expression I had plastered on my face with mouth agape and jaw dropped staring wide-eyed at my best friend as she waved her manicured nails in front of my face "Ummm Sky?, Say something" she nervously uttered

"huh?... Oh yeah right," I manage to squeeze out of my lips.

No one could blame me or my brain for deciding to shut down at this instant because Taylor who only ever believed in playing with guys' hearts and dumping them like sewage just confessed that her summer fling with a guy called Damien whom she met to pass time during her trip suddenly developed into a crush and now they're both trying out the whole" relationship thing" out for the first time.

"I'm sorry it's just that I've known you for almost all my life and having a boyfriend isn't one of the things I considered you ever doing no offense" I uttered bemused

"well I do have a record of breaking hearts" she stated a smirk drawn on her lips

"yes you do, but either way I'm happy for you Tay I just hope you know what you're getting yourself into first cause I wouldn't love to see you hurt" I stated concerned,
she has always been a big softie but she could drastically change into your greatest nightmare in a split second and seeing her break down over some idiotic boy isn't going to be on my list of favs

"I understand that you care but it's fine, I'm a big girl remember" she chuckled fluttering her long eyelashes at me completely giving up trying to reason with her

" Well that aside, the surprise is that he's transferring here for a senior year" she grinned looking completely whipped with that puppy-lovesick look in her eyes

"is that even possible" I mutter

"yeah his parents are loaded that's how I got to know him at first cause my parents and his parents were friends from high school and all that crap"rolling her eyes for dramatic effect

" that's cool I guess " I state a bit unsure about meeting a new addition to our circle not meaning to sound rude and all but even though I've never been one to love large circles of friendship

I've gotten so used to it just being Taylor and I and most times Ryan and his douchebag friends but for Eli, Nathaniel, and Nick I'll make an exception
I guess the wind of change is blowing so hard that I have to hold on to something so I won't crash.

We spent the rest of the day catching up and talking, mostly her anyways while I listened intently making comments when necessary and laughing my heart out when I couldn't help it anymore.
We were so caught up in our conversation we didn't realize how much time had passed, I guess that's what missing someone so much and seeing them after a while does to a person making time seem so little and not enough,
This is why I also noticed Taylor's body stiffen at the sound of Ryan as he got back from wherever he went to he approached us barging into my room as he owned it "Yes just walk in like we both share the goddammed room Ryan" I rolled my eyes unable to stop the smile forcing it's way to my cheeks "I just missed my other half so bad and I came to see you" he cheekily states giving me a quick peck on my cheeks making me laugh at his behavior

I've never been a touchy person that has always been Ryan's biggest trait and it used to creep me out in the past but now I understand that's how he expresses himself by showing affection in actions

" hey Tay, how was the trip to Costa Rica?" Ryan asked as his eyes darted to hers her face looked flushed instantly as she nibbled on her bottom lip making her look cute and hilarious I bit my lower lip to stop a chuckle escaping from me

"Well, it was... It was awesome thanks" she mutters under her breath

" Costa Rica was really good for you" he stated huskily as his eyes trailed all over her body making her unease

Taylor had a huge crush on Ryan when we were kids and he used to call her "babydoll" which made her cheeks flush every time but now she swears she's all grown up and claims to have moved on from her huge crush and even I can feel the tension that fills the room instantly anytime she sees him

"It's good to see you after a while anyways" he gave a lopsided smile as she bit her lip nodding

"see you later ladies" he blew an air kiss over to me as I made an action to catch it placing it above my heart causing his mouth to curve into a smile as he shuts the door behind him

"so..... Ryan huh?" I utter smirking at her flushed face

"What?.... No Sky I told you before there's nothing there and I have a boyfriend now remember" she says convincingly rubbing her palm over her jeans which by now were sweaty

"you sure? Cause you look like you're about to shit yourself" I burst out laughing so hard I have to hold her shoulder for support

"yes I'm sure Skylar" she stated narrowing her eyes but soon joined me in my laughing fit

After showing me the stuff she got for me from Costa Rica most of which were shoes, accessories, clothes a little too revealing to be decent, not that I didn't like to show off a little skin here and there sometimes but Taylor goes way over the top with those.

It was time for her to head on home and after hugging for what seemed like forever we finally pulled away " I'll text you when I get home okay?" she plastered a smile on her face

" yeah okay, say hi to Mrs. White tell her it's from her favorite kid" I added winking and whispering so only she heard which just made her roll her eyes chuckling to herself

After she left we had dinner which was Pizza and drinks

I cleared the table and Ryan threw out the pizza box and cans of drinks leading the way upstairs as we headed for our rooms but before I went into mine I joined Ryan in his first, getting comfy on his bed as he plopped down beside me with his arms behind his head

"What did you and the guys do today?" I muttered breaking the comfortable silence

"just played some games, had pizza, drinks, and snacks, and talked" he mumbled with his eyes shut

I hummed then sat up folding my long legs underneath me "Ryan?" I called making him hum in response "I always wondered from time to time how life would have been if they weren't...you know?.... dead" I whisper as my voice breaks staring down at my hands
Sitting up in the same position watching me intently with glossy eyes but forcing a smile " It would have been the magical sky, they would have done anything to see us happy and now we're going to play our part by making them proud always and staying strong for them and ourselves, I would do anything in my power to make you happy and protect you okay? You're my life sky and I'm not just saying that because we're twins and I was born first by two minutes but because I love you and your happiness is my happiness" he stated pulling me into his chest and stroking my hair as I felt a teardrop on my forehead from him which made me hold on tighter whimpering as tears rolled down my cheeks leaving me with a sick feeling in my stomach
I hated seeing him like this, helpless and defeated as he tried to stay strong for us but even the strongest person falls apart once in a while and I know that he does all he does to keep me safe and happy which makes our bond only stronger
I never considered myself weak or incapable of protecting myself for one day, I can give a clean hard blow to any part of the body without causing much damage to myself and I can knee a person hard to the groin specially taught by Ryan and my three male best friends which also happen to be Ryan's too and other defensive skills so I was fine on my own but they seemed to make it their duty to protect me from the rest of the human population most especially the male population
which explains my reason for not ever having a boyfriend or another boy apart from Eli, Nathaniel, Ryan, and Nick around me then my saving grace is Taylor, she doesn't mind them hovering over us at least she's there to keep me sane when it gets unbearable.

"I love you forever and always" I mumbled sniffling

"I love you forever and always"I felt him smile against my head as he replied hugging me for a while before pulling away allowing me to go change for bed and plopping on the bed snuggling under my comforter and drifting into a dreamless slumber.
