"We wrote this years ago
remember, you called it the longing tree for whenever anyone of us grew apart from each other" he smiled at my tearstained cheeks and gently used his thumb to wipe the tears from my face as I sniffled all the memories came back and I don't know how but my tear buds had a mind of their own apparently "this is where we spent most times remember, I and Ryan were sick one time and you refused to go home and eventually got sick so we stayed home together teasing you" he chuckled at the thought lifting my eyes to look at him I didn't realize how close we were that I could feel his breath on my face suddenly the air felt hot but physically it was a bit chilly as I stared into his eyes something felt different, I noticed things I hadn't paid attention to before and my palms were moist all of a sudden we were so close now our noses almost touched there was a tiny space between them "Leroy...."I whispered as the tiny space between us grew smaller "Skylar..." he whispered back before I could say anything else his lips were on mine I was frozen in place for a second but then my head felt fuzzy my heart was thumping in my chest as he gently placed his hand on my cheek the space disappeared and I placed my hand in his soft curls as I returned the kiss at the back of my mind I was freaking out because this was the first time I was ever kissing anyone and it happened to be an old friend that was like family to me but this kiss felt nothing like family it was mixed with all the bottled up emotions that we both had and the ones I didn't understand as we gently pulled away his eyes was boring into mine and for a split second I felt free and I wasn't thinking of anything else but this second he placed his forehead on mine and whispered something that I didn't hear.

We didn't say a word as we walked to the car and drove in silence till we got to my house he cleared his throat before speaking "thanks for allowing me show you around Skylar, it was a pleasure meeting you after a long while"he looked at me but his eyes never reached mine which made me feel unease as millions of thoughts rammed my brain "have a goodnight Leroy"I smiled and walked out of his car to my room and shut the door I released a deep breath I didn't know I was holding before thinking back to the only thing that was on my mind the whole time "you're leaving tomorrow Skylar just keep it together okay"I muttered to myself I wasn't the type to hold such importance to things like first kisses because It never dawned on me that I would ever kiss someone who was like family to me and with that thought I shoved any feeling that I had or newly discovered into a black hole and prepared for bed not bothering to eat anything because of the long day I had and slept off with one hazy thought on my mind.

"Good morning sunshine" my grandma whispered into my ears as she sat on the end of the bed and placed a kiss on my forehead "I made breakfast, I figured you would want to catch up on the city yesterday so I waited till today since you're leaving today we're going to hang out just you and me okay" she smiled reminding me painfully of my mom "that's awesome grandma" I hugged her and kisses her cheeks as she left me to clean up and meet her downstairs.

After the long refreshing bath I took not missing a chance to try out the new scented bathing soaps and oils I came out smelling like a million flowers, putting on my favourite black hoodie with a blue pair of skinny jeans and wore my scrunchie on my wrist deciding to let my hair fall over my shoulders and wore my boots not bothering to touch up my face I went downstairs stopping to say hello to the maids and the cleaners grandma made chocolate chip pancakes and apple cider then I ate a few of her freshly baked cookies after that we planted new flowers in the garden and we watched her favourite movies together, took a stroll around where she showed me places her, grandpa and my parents went to, she also took me to her favourite ice cream shop where we tried new flavours before our driver came to pick us up and we went home it was 2pm when we got home and my flight wasn't until another one hour so I spent it baking with grandma and listening to stories of when my parents fell in love and decided to get married, grandma was the most beautiful hearted person I knew and i wondered how she told all these stories without feeling hurt about how so much had changed sinced then "I hope you and your brother are actually living like teenagers, going out, having fun and living the best of life now that you have the chance to Skylar, you have a couple months till you're off to college and don't forget that highschool would be one of the most important memories that you would want to remember" she spoke giving me a sad smile "I know grandma, we'll do our best to okay.... I'm going to miss you Grandma" I smiled softly as my heart tugged at the thought that she's the one that'll be alone in this house with the maids and other people helping around, she'll be the one with this painful memory with her always because she can't possibly ever forget "nonsense Skylar, I can come to see you anytime, any day and I'll be fine I know that's what you're worried about sweetheart but I'm perfectly okay" she kissed my cheeks and hugged me whispering in my ear "your parents and I and your grandfather are so proud of the how much you and your brother are growing, never forget how much you're both loved okay" I nodded trying to put my emotions together  "now go get ready ill send someone upstairs to help you bring your things down, I don't want you missing your flight now" she grinned as I went to get ready to go back home.

After saying goodbye and hugging everyone Curt drove me to the airport but before I got out of the car I gave him a big warm hug rushing out to catch the flight.

I slept the whole way back and after I got out I saw Ryan's car waiting for me him leaning on the car with his hands in the pocket of his jeans as his eyes were searching for me finally spotting me a smile overtook his face and he walked over to help me out and pulled me into a tight hug "did you miss me, sweetie?" I smirked and chuckled as he nodded his head grinning "It was a hellish one day without you" he admitted smiling as I shook my head at how dramatic he was being, we drove to get something to eat and after that, we got home. I was done unpacking and was currently reading a new series on my MacBook when Ryan plopped on beside me "Sky?" He called making me look at him "Is something wrong? Did something happen at grandma's that's bothering you?" He stared into my eyes making me smile at how easily he could read me I know we're twins and all but he knew me like a book after taking a deep breath I looked at him " I met Leroy there after so long" I started "okay, so did something happen" he spoke waiting "he kissed me when he showed me the tree we wrote our names on as kids and it was surprising and I felt a rush of emotions that I never felt but I blame it on the thrill of being back after a while,  he couldn't even look at me after and I just decided it was something unimportant so I shoved it aside" I explained looking at him for a response "he kissed you and couldn't look at you afterward?..... I guess he's trying to process but that's not an excuse to hurt you, I just don't like seeing you hurt which is why I'll always protect you from things like this happening again okay" he replied as he clenched his jaw I just nodded and went back to reading trying to get my mind under control.
