Chapter 13: The Dinner

As they both headed for the door Naomi asked "Hey Ty so I was thinking well no, never mind." She got in the car. Ty wandered what she was about to ask. "No, what's on your mind Naomi, you can ask me?" He sat next to her. She looked at the locket he gave her the first date they went on. "We should go out to eat." She smiled as she looked at the locket. She had always wanted a family of her own. At least two sons and a dog. The dog was optional. She giggled to herself and held on to Ty laying her back on his chest. "What do you think T can we or do you have another surprise for me?" Ty smiled and held her close to his chest. He looks out the window at the skyscrapers and tall buildings. He had dreamed of a better place for them since the apartment was beginning to get a bit smaller. "Is that what you want to do Naomi?" Ty looked down at her and started rubbing her lovely braided black hair. "Yes, we haven't gone out to a restaurant yet." She closed her eyes and smiled as she enjoyed her braids being massaged. She soon felt herself start to relax on his back then squirmed out of his arms and laid on her side so she could look at him. He smiled at her and held her hand. Soon they arrive at a light where he then tells Bryan to take them somewhere nice. "Yes, sir, any place in particular?" Bryan asked, looking in the mirror at them then looking back at the road. "No, just any nice fancy restaurant will do. Is that good with you love?" He looked at her and waited for her answer. She sat up and told Bryan "Somewhere a Champ would eat at Bryan." She held her man with a firm hug laying her head on his shoulder. "You worried about tomorrow?" She asked him knowing he probably wasn't. "Not Really but if I can be honest with you I'm always worried about my matches but then all of that goes away when I realize that this city is counting on me and your counting on me and now that there's a kid on the way I wonder to myself how will I take care of you all besides boxing is really the only thing I'm great at." He looked at her being completely honest with her. "Ty, close your eyes and take a deep breath now just focus on my voice. I know you're afraid of what might or could happen but we believe in you. We all do. Our uncle does too, as well your parents believe in you, this whole city believes in you. Now picture all those people who I've just mentioned and think of how much they love you. You have to be strong, if not for them then for me Ty. I know you can do it because I believe in you." Bryan pulls into a parking lot. "We've arrived sir. Should I reserve a table for two?" Ty said nothing focused on Naomi's voice still. "Uh yes we'll be just a second." Before Bryan got out he told Ty. "I believe in you Champ." Then he closes the door and heads inside to reserve a table for them. "See Ty we all believe in you, even Bryan. You just have to believe in yourself too." She kissed him and placed his hand on her stomach. "Do it for our family." Ty smiled as he realized he was surrounded by family this whole time. Not only is it Naomi and his uncle and parents but it was also the doctors, news reporters,paparazzi people, and everyone in the city and he finally says "I do believe." He kissed Naomi more then he looked at her and told her "You're the reason I made it to this point in my life." She shushed him, "Let's Eat then you can tell me." He smiled and nodded to her statement. "You're the boss, future Mrs. Valentine." Bryan opens the door. "Are we ready sir? Your table is ready." Ty lets Naomi out first and gets out after her. Walking with a suit and tie he holds her hand as she wears her red dress. Bryan then opens the door for them and immediately after the entire restaurant said we believe in you Champ. Almost as if they knew he was worried. Naomi smiles and looks at Ty "See told you everyone loves you." They went to their table and Ty pulled her chair out for her. "Thank you Champ." She sat down. "Your welcome Velvet." He sat down after her. "What will you be having to drink tonight Champ?" The waitress asked him. "Please get her first, I can wait." She smiled and said "Such a gentleman, Miss what will you be having tonight?" Naomi smiled and answered. "One of you all's finest bottles of wine will do as for you sir what will you be having tonight." She asked Ty and smiled at his suit. "For me I'll take the same as her." The waitress nods and writes the order down heading to the back. "Might as well be right and I saw you staring at my suit. Do you like it?" He asked her, smiling at her. "I love it, I don't like it." She smiles then looks at the menu. "I think this menu is for you Champ." He takes the menu as she hands it to him. "Why do you say that?" He asked as he studied the menu. "It's at the bottom." He looked at the bottom. "Oh, I wonder what that is." The waitress then comes back with a fresh new bottle of their finest wine and says "It's on the house tonight if you saw the menu. May I read off our specials for you two?" Ty nods and Naomi smiles seeing how much they love Ty here. "You may." Naomi interrupts her politely "Excuse me but where is your bathroom?" The waitress tells her directions to her bathroom. "Thanks. Be right back love." Naomi kissed Ty's cheek before going back to freshen up. "Oh, and order me whatever you want and ask them to add broccoli to my order." She starts for the bathroom. Bryan follows her to stand guard of the door so she's not bothered and Ty listens to the waitress read off the specials and orders for them both adding broccoli to her order. Naomi soon returned shortly after and Bryan pulled out her chair for her. "So about tomorrow either way I'll be safe so all I want you to do is go out there and have fun don't think about anything but the match give it your best and remember we're all cheering in your corner alright Champ?" Naomi reached for her glass and asked Ty telling him just to go out there and be his very best. "I will don't worry about it, love, let's just worry about our time together, when the time comes for that I won't let you down. This is my city and no one, not even some lunatic on the streets will ever take that from me nor from us together we are strong and apart we are still strong. He's just one man with a few friends behind him. I'm a man with a family behind me." Naomi smiles at his words and lifts her glass making a toast. "Excuse me everyone if I may make a toast to the one who I fell in love with after he saved me from two goons Ty you know I love you and will always love you, you are my world and soon to be father of our kids if it weren't for you I would still probably be getting bullied by thugs, and without you I would've never learned how to throw a punch properly. I'm also terribly sorry about your parents and sorry that they couldn't watch you grow into the strong and brave man of God and gentleman you are growing to be but if they could see you they would be so proud of you. Ty if you truly and honestly love me and this city as you say you do then you know we will always be in your corner through all your matches in the ring and in life and if you ever asked me to be your wife I would say yes because I know the pain and misery you suffer with to I never told you this but I also lost my parents, I lost them in a shoot out also at around your age you lost yours, they were coming home from dinner one night and a bullet went through my mom's heart my dad had stopped the car to stop the bleeding but it had already been too late and shortly after she died another bullet was shot through my father's head and after that night I was sent to a foster home that's where I first saw you Ty, you didn't recognize me through your rage of the other kids picking on you but I was there. Remember when you had gotten upset and mad at one of them and started beating him up once he talked about your dad and a little girl tried to stop you and calm you down saying he's just trying to get in your head. Just like how that guy I had to stop you from putting in the hospital that night at the studio that little girl said the exact same words I said He's just trying to get in your head. Ty I love you and I will be your wife. We all love you and we all want you to do your best tomorrow and show that guy why you don't mess with family. We know you will win because we believe in you. We all do. A toast to the Champ everybody." People start to cheer and applaud her and then start to chant Champ repeatedly as Naomi sits back down and smiles saying thank you to everybody. Ty sat there speechless as the food came out. "Well don't just sit there Champ." Ty looked at the door seeing his uncle at the front. "Come on, I want to show you something." Ty got up and looked at Naomi. "Go, I'll be fine." She yelled over the crowd. Ty pulled her into a long kiss and told her "Let's wait until the baby is out first then you can say yes to the proposal." She smiled, pulling him into a longer kiss. The crowd starts to aww and applaud more. "I promise Ty." She tears up crying tears of Joy and sits back down at the table. Ty rushed to his uncle and hugged him tightly "Hey now don't be getting soft on me just yet I still got one more gift for you." He looked at him "A gift?" He followed his uncle to his car. "Now I want you to know I had nothing to do with this, it was all your father's idea." Duke opened the trunk of his car and took out a box. "So tomorrow when you step into that ring we want you to be ready." Ty followed him back to the restaurant and to a vacant table. "Naomi, why don't you come give me a hand with this." Ty then asked him "Wait I thought you were in the ER how are you already out?" Duke responded "You really thought some ER was gonna stop me from seeing your biggest fight ever come on now. No really though I started feeling better and they said I was free to go so I had Bryan over there text me you all's location and here I am. Now hush so Naomi can make another speech for me." He handed her a paper. "I'm not really good with speeches." She took the paper and started reading. "Dear Ty I'm so sorry I couldn't be there to hand this to you myself if I could I'm sure things would be different. Your mother and I are so proud of you and we will always love you. I hope you are doing well for yourself and your uncle isn't giving you too hard of a time and I hope you find the right one for you as much as you mean to us always remember that one day you to will also be in my position and someday hopefully you will pass this down to your son or daughter and you can tell them stories of how you became the champion of boxing yourself. I never had the luxury of having a family like you do today but always remember your family is everyone and like I said you were always a champ in our world. Love always Mom and Dad." Ty was speechless for a bit and Naomi gave the paper back to her uncle. "Ty, you alright?" Ty cleared his throat. "Yes, I think so." He looks at the box as it's opened seeing a pair of boxing gloves and boxing shorts that read on the waist band "Born to be a Champ" Ty grabbed them and put them on in the bathroom with Bryan standing guard at the door and Ty had walked out the bathroom. Everyone looked at Ty and started clapping as Naomi walked by his side back to their table. The waitress had sat the food on the table and started clapping with the crowd and a tear fell from Ty's cheek and Naomi kissed his cheek "Let's eat Champ. You have a big day tomorrow." He nodded and they ate shortly after heading home and slept.
