Chapter 16
We are all walking on the main road while the rest of the treasure members are singing. Hua and I are singing along with them while Jihoon is silently observing our surroundings.
"We need to go in this way, see you tomorrow, Jihoon Hyung!"
They all bid their goodbyes and I told them to take care.
Jihoon asked Hua if she was sure that she also wants to take me home and she told us to not worry about it. Hua insisted to be with us until we reached our destination.
"I had fun at the cafe. I didn't know cafes can be relaxing at some point." I smiled at Hua's remarks.
"Well, you can go there anytime even after class." I looked at Jihoon who was on his phone.
"Yeah, but sadly, I can't make it these following days because of volleyball tryouts..." she whispered.
I nodded and understand what my best friend meant. She wants to play volleyball and I support her in that. Even though I feel some of our friends will try to accompany me just to get home safely, I can't stand it when they are the ones who cared for me this much.
Especially this man who's looking at the sky intently. Our eyes met causing me to avoid his gaze.
"It's fine. I know you'll pass the tryouts. Be confident, Hua." she nods and offers a hug.
"It's getting late. I will go home now,"
I gave her a tight hug and smiled. Hua let go of the hug and stood up properly.
"Jihoon, I'll go home now. Please take care of this flower." they both laughed and I shook my head in disbelief.
"Bye!"
As she waves her hand, I waved mine too. My head starts to throb and my vision starts to blur, resulting in my loss of balance. I bit my lip and felt the arms of Jihoon wrapping around my waist to carry me inside our house.
"Kokoa! Auntie!" I heard him shout and my cousin's face is now pale.
I tried to get away from him but Jihoon insisted I take some rest and don't move. Kokoa is in a rush while giving me a warm soup that auntie made earlier before going out to buy some groceries.
"What happened?" she asked Jihoon who's on my left side, checking my pulse while his face screams nervousness.
"I'm fine," I said while taking a deep breath to further relax.
"Are you sure you're fine?" Jihoon asked in his still worried voice.
"Yes, I am..." I slowly get back on my pace as Kokoa tried giving me a spoonful of soup.
"I can do it."
"Maybe you are exhausted from work?" I bit my lip and shook my head.
"I am fine, Jihoon. You may go home now..." I smiled, assuring him that I can take care of myself.
Kokoa is silent the whole time while looking at both of us. She knows something that I don't want to be part of. Honestly, I am fine with where I am right now and I couldn't ask for more. So what she thinks as with what I remember with her painting, is all nonsense. It can be explained but Kokoa chose not to.
"I'll try to visit you tomorrow."
"No. I mean, I'm fine, see? Don't ditch your practice." Jihoon looked at me intently, finding answers in my eyes.
"Okay, but I will call you later."
I nodded because I know I can't escape what he said. Jihoon knows I'm always on my phone right now, checking their messages and watching some dramas and cartoons.
We saw him leave and Kokoa made sure that the gate was locked and our front door, too. Auntie is still not here and it's time for me to cook our dinner.
"Here's your painkiller. I know your back still hurts. Do you want me to help you go upstairs?"
"I'll be quick." I smiled after drinking what she gave me.
When I stood up, I didn't feel any dizziness. I straightly go to my room and get changed. As I look in the mirror, I still look pale than before. I guess I need more vitamins to drink.
As I go downstairs, I saw auntie preparing what she ordered from a famous fast food restaurant. There was chicken, pasta, and even french fries.
By the looks of auntie, I know Kokoa did not tell her what happened. I didn't ask my cousin to do so but we both talked about this, that ever there was a thing that slightly changed my mood and even my state, don't tell to her mother because I know she'll be worried.
We ate and Hiroshi called Kokoa. Asking if how we were and how is her sister. He texted me earlier asking about my whereabouts and I told him that I'm working in this specific cafe near our house. He agreed because Hiroshi knows how bored I was.
Kokoa insisted to wash the plates and I helped her by cleaning the table. I thanked auntie for buying the groceries even though I can do it tomorrow before going to the cafe.
Auntie bid a good night and I smiled.
"Good night, auntie!"
She waved her hand while going upstairs. I sighed and glanced at the little girl washing the plates.
"I know you didn't tell her."
"Lilac, you know I am beyond worried about what happened. Telling it to my mom won't hurt. If this will happen again next time, I am surely telling her the whole story." I nodded and let out another sigh.
I feel that my eyes are starting to feel heavy because of a lack of sleep. Kokoa finished with what she was doing and we both made sure that even the windows are properly locked to avoid any disturbance while sleeping. Sadly, I call it disturbance because I'm scared someone might break in into the house.
I entered my bathroom and took a short shower. While facing the mirror, I can't help but see those eyes. Jihoon's eyes never lie and it scared me what is behind those unsaid words.
A sigh came from me again as I heard my phone ringing. I am now wearing my pajamas and getting ready to sleep but suddenly, someone is calling. I got out of the bathroom and sat on the edge of my bed.
While I look for my phone, I saw that it was Jihoon who was calling.
I took a deep breath and looked at the screen. It's still ringing.
I answered it without any hesitations. I didn't take seriously what he said before he leaves.
"Hi..." his deep voice welcomed me.
"Hello!" I sound so cheerful. I don't want him to ask about what happened earlier this evening.
"How are you?"
"Hmm. I feel better than before. How about you?"
Instead of answering, I was surprised when he wants to do a video call! This time, I was a little bit hesitant on answering this.
But I still did...
I saw him facing his laptop and a computer was also open. His room is absolutely clean as I look into its different corners.
"I don't know if you like video calls. I just tried my luck but if it's okay if you turned it down."
Jihoon glanced at his phone and seeing him in a black shirt made me smile.
"I'm sorry, I didn't ask if you're going to be comfortable with this. Are you alright?"
While he asked me that, I saw him getting a notebook and a pen. He wrote down something and I guess he's answering his assignments.
"I'm good..." I whispered but I know Jihoon heard it.
"I'm doing some pending tasks. If you're tired, you may now sleep, Lilac. I called to see if you're now fine."
My heart skipped a beat and it follows more beating. I can hear him typing on his laptop and humming a familiar song but because I'm sleepy, I didn't get the chance to say a good night.
