Chapter 11

When the both of us sat in our place, I started to paint while he is still watching me. Look at this man, he got tired from playing at the park easily, and yet he came back just to watch me paint?

There are excess brushes and I looked at him.

"Do you want to paint?" I asked Jihoon.

He did not answer so I'd give him a clean canvas and paintbrush. The paints I have are all in our front. I also offered him a pencil and sketch paper.

"Can I look at your sketches first before I also paint?"

"Sure."

Jihoon unhurriedly opened my sketch pad and other papers consist my random sketches while I was in our class.

Every turn of the page he did was to look at them closely, I don't know what he thinks about them but it was fine. It's art after all.

I remember what Doyoung told to me when I was with Hua in the school cafe, there is no wrong with art.

Hua is not a fan of art, as long as she buys me the paint that I need, she will. But when I asked her why she doesn't draw or paint, she will just say that she doesn't have a talent for it.

"Do you like to draw?" Jihoon whispered while he stopped on a page and hoped for my answer.

"Since when I was a kid, I loved it, and my mom taught me how to draw." I smiled sheepishly.

Then I realized that I shouldn't tell him that much. My tongue slipped.

"Where is your mom?"

I know that he will ask. He sounds so concerned that made me smirk.

"I don't know."

"Why did you-"

"She left me. Alone."

The silence came as the sun hurts my skin. I forgot to bring an umbrella. I looked at him and asked.

"Aren't you going home? The sun may hurt your skin." I told him while I finish my painting.

He also began after he raised his question. The pencil and sketch paper that I gave him doesn't include anything. Jihoon is directly painting on the canvas.

"I will wait for you." he did not hesitate to answer and went on with what he was doing.

My phone rings and when I looked at it, a call from auntie is coming. I excused myself and answered the call.

"When are you going home, Lilac? Will you eat your meal here?" I bit my lower lip and saw that it is lunchtime. I need to go home, but how about Jihoon?

"I will go home now. I am with Jihoon." hearing auntie's laugh and Kokoa's voice in the background made me crease my forehead. They are teasing me again.

"Why are you with him?" Kokoa picked up auntie's phone and I heard her laugh.

"Kokoa!" I called her name.

"Why? Come home now and let's paint! Let Jihoon go home by himself!"

"Give the phone to auntie!" ignoring what she said, I saw Jihoon stood up.

"Okay, okay! Come home, Lilac!" I smiled.

"I will."

Running back to Jihoon, I asked him if he can help me carry and he agreed. I did not see what he painted because he carried mine, too.

"Will you join us to eat lunch at our house?" he looked shocked at what I'd told him while we are leaving the river.

"Sure. No problem." Jihoon looked away and his phone rang.

"You can answer it," I told him and halt to buy a drink in the vending machine.

I last saw him drink this chocolate flavor one so I bought it. I remember when Hua bought a pack of banana milk which I appreciated but originally, it was Jaehyuk who gave me banana milk before Hua.

Jaehyuk was one of Hua's close friends aside from Jihoon. But based on Hua, some girls are liking him secretly because they don't want to show it or else Jaehyuk will write their names on his list of his girls.

Look how playboy Jaehyuk is.

"My mom wants to join us to eat lunch. She also asked if you can teach her later on your recipe." I nod and lent him his drink.

"Aren't you busy?" Jihoon again raised a question and offered to switch our places.

"I am not. How about you? I thought you have scheduled errands for today."

"They canceled it and moved it on Sunday."

"Thank you for this," he said and gulped all the chocolate drink.

Kokoa unlocked our gate when Jihoon and I are already outside. Jihoon's mother is waiting inside, surely sharing stories with auntie.

We both bowed to them and Jihoon offered to help on putting these art materials in my room. I saw Kokoa making hearts and when auntie caught her, she laughed and made a peace sign.

"You can put it there beside the cabinet," I informed Jihoon and cleaned all the paintbrushes we used earlier in my bathroom.

I saw him roaming around my room. His painting that he made earlier is not there with mine, I know he will hide it before going here. I lean against the side of the door while watching him.

Jihoon looked closely at Kokoa's painting. There were a man and a woman, hugging each other and I know that Jihoon looks like the man in the painting. I did not intend to ask Kokoa about her painting because we both know we don't know who Jihoon is before coming here.

And the woman in the painting is none other than me.
