Kang got to the café earlier than Nia. He sat at the corner booth and waited for her to arrive, anxiously. Something that never happened to him. He rarely got nervous for meetings but this time, things were different and he was about to sit for 3 hours with a woman whose beauty has caught his eye for the first time in years.
He glanced at the large clock on the wall and looked at the door and back at his flies which he had placed on the table. Just then, the café's door chime jingled and in walked Nia. A vision in a long black trench coat, dark wash jeans and a plain white shirt. She looked radiant as usual. She spotted Kang and walked faster to him.
"Sorry to have kept you waiting, my driver got a little lost on the way." She smiled sincerely, hoping that Kang wasn't too upset.
He smiled back at her, "Not at all. I actually just got here." He lied.
Kang snapped his fingers twice to call the waiter and they placed their orders. While they waited, they talked business and Kang assured Nia that everything would go according to plan. He had a clear vision for Yantra Motors in Africa and Nia was the perfect person to ensure that that would happen.
He was amazed by her. Not only was she incredibly beautiful but had intelligence beyond measure. Something that Kang thought was very scarce. He never liked to shame the women in Korea but most of them didn't quite meet his standards. Or maybe he was traumatized by his past relationship with Nara but just couldn't bring himself to admit that to himself and those few people he was close to.
The meeting ended swiftly and on quite a good note. Both of them sat there and wondered what to do next, they looked at each other, neither knowing what to say or do next. Kang cleared his throat and leaned back on his chair, "Would you perhaps like to go to Purple Island with me before you leave? We could go there and have fun."
Nia let out a giggle, "I've been there before and didn't really like it. I'm not a fan of k-pop, you see so I think I'd just be bored if I went there. Also, are you asking me out on a date? I remember your assistant clearly stating that you would never date any of your clients."
"Who said it was a date? Think of it as a way to get to know South Korea since you're going to be spending a lot of time in and out of the country."
"That makes sense." She smiled.
Kang returned the smile. "I thought I'd have to show you all the k-pop themed places here in Korea but I'm glad to know one more thing about you."
"One more thing? I don't really remember telling you anything about myself before?" she said, confused.
Kang quickly caught himself. He couldn't possibly make a fool of himself and tell her that he'd been stalking her SNS. "I mean, you told me that you're from South Africa and now I know that you don't like K-Pop so..."
Nia nodded slowly but was suspicious. "Okay, I guess I can make time and go have fun with you."
Just as Kang was about to speak, his phone vibrated violently on the table and wouldn't stop. He looked at the caller ID and Jungmi's name flashed in all caps on the screen. He ignored it and continued talking with Nia but it just kept ringing and ringing until he finally gave in and answered. He excused himself and went outside.
"What?! I'm in the middle of something important!"
"Kang, I have some news about Nara and you trust me, it's urgent." She said, panic deep in her voice.
He let out an exasperated sigh. "I said you should let that go! And please, tell me you didn't go to that Jusulsa?"
There was a brief silence on the other end of the line and Jungmi spoke. "I did but I did it for your own good. You need to know what's going on so please just come over and I'll explain everything. The Jusulsa gave me something you could use for protection."
