" Thanks for coming out to lunch with me. I appreciate." Zachary said as he boxed up the rest of his meal.
We had just finished our lunch at the restaurant that I had picked. I picked this certain restaurant because it was really good, and it was kind of hidden. Only the people who lived here knew about it.
" of course. I hope I didn't take up too much of your time though. I didn't mean for lunch to run this late. I know you're very busy"
" no, I enjoy your company. I don't have any friends here. Other than business associates, which honestly I can't stand them. Everything is so business with them, nothing can ever be fun. I always have had to uphold my serious reputation as well."
I wonder how he acted around them? Did he still make the same jokes? Did he still smile? I would hate to have to act completely differently around certain people. Just because we work together.
"I'm sorry it's like that. But you have me, I'll be your friend."
Zachary smiled, " I appreciate that. But, I should be getting home. I do have tons of work to do. Thanks again for meeting up with me."
Zachary and I got out of the restaurant and headed back to our cars. We said goodbye one last time, before getting in our cars and going on our separate ways.
On the way home, I received a text message from Zachary.
Zachary: I forgot to mention that I need you to come to my office at 10 AM tomorrow. I have a meeting that I want you to attend.
When I finally got home, I replied to him, letting him know that I will be there. For the remainder of my day, I just sat and watched tv. Awaiting the next day
The Next Day
9:55 Am
I shut my computer because it was time to head to Zachary's office. I wanted to be a minute or two earlier in case he just wanted to leave on time.
I got up from my chair and walked out of my office and into his. Which was only a little bit farther down the hallway. I knocked on his door, which was open, but I didn't want to disturb him if he was busy.
Zachary was sitting at his desk, doing the normal, writing on paper. He looked up from his work and smiled at him. He put his pen down and got up.
" Sorry, I've been so busy today, I completely forgot about the time. Honestly, I would've forgotten about this entire meeting if you wouldn't have to come and get me. One of the reasons why I told you to meet me here. Instead of the room where the meeting is." Zachary joked.
Zachary and I headed down to the elevator, I went down 3 floors, where some of the conference meetings rooms were.
Once we got out of the elevator, we started walking down the hall. As soon as we hit the third door on the right, Zachary opened the door for me, and we both walked inside.
They were already four other men in there. All of which were in business suits, looking very important. Which confused me as to why I was here.
Zachary moved the chair for me to sit down in, which I oblige. And he walked to the front of the room. Even though he was walking to the front of the room, all of the men's eyes were on me.
Two out of the four men had to be 30. And the other two, we're in their 50s or later.
One of the men, the oldest-looking one, kept weirdly looking at me. Probably wondering why I was here as well.
" welcome, thank you for coming. We have a lot to discuss. As you know, not too long ago I purchased this business. There's a lot to do though. It's a project. And you guys were interested in buying this place as well. But since I had the highest bid, it went to me."
