4 Years Later
"So, do you need any help?" Samantha asked me.
Samantha was my best friend here. I was now a designer at Courtney & Co. I've always wanted to be a designer for clothing, and Samantha gave me the chance. Samantha is my best friend, but also my boss. Samantha and I are very close in age. She is 25 and I am 23.
After I went off to college to become a designer, Maggie and I basically distanced ourselves from one another. We barely speak now, random texts between and one another every so often, simple hello and how are you doing. Other than that we do not truly speak whatsoever. It is so awkward, and I am always wondering how she is truly doing.
I was hoping to invite her up here for my birthday on the 24th. I have not seen her in over 2 years. But that's another 3 months away.
"No! I think I'm all good. I'm just going to finish up here, then I'm going to head home. Do you have any plans tonight?" I asked Samantha as I started to finish up the last few items on my list.
I was finishing up a design for one of the showcases that is happening in the next few weeks. A dress for one of the models.
"I'm going out tonight with Shane. We are going to go to dinner tonight. At this really exclusive restaurant called Raz. it's supposed to be only for the poshest. I'm so excited! Maybe we should go on a double date one day. With you and William."
William, we are sort of dating. But not exclusive. Every so often, maybe every week or so, we meet up and go to dinner. After that, we go back to one of our places, and hook up. Then we do not really speak. Random text during the week, checking on each other, but other than that we do not talk. He goes on other dates with other girls, and sleeps with them. And I do the same with guys.
William is 30, he has bleach blonde hair, and he is extremely cute. But he is clearly only a f*** buddy. And I did not have the heart to tell Samantha that. She thinks William and I are together, but I don't want her to think that I'm all alone. She always worries about me, saying I do not have enough friends, that I need to get out there more. But after everything that happened with Anthony, I'm not sure if I want to.
Anthony's story is a story for another time....
"Maybe, he's pretty busy all the time. I only see him once a week as you know. Other than that we don't really talk. Maybe some random texts every so often, but other than that. Not really. Maybe so, I'll talk to him about it." I told her, giving her false hope.
"All right, well I gotta get going. I gotta go get ready for our date. See you later!"
I put on my phone, waiting to text William. I've had such a long day, I was hoping maybe he would want to meet up.
Marissa: Hey William! Sorry to bother you, I was just wondering if you wanted to do dinner tonight? I've had such a shity day, and I need some company ;)
I put my phone on my desk, and only seconds later, my phone binged.
William: Hey gorgeous, yeah! Let's do dinner tonight. How about we go to Benson's? I was going to have dinner tonight with some girl named Rosie, but she canceled. See you then!
It almost hurt my heart for a second, that I was his second shot tonight. But honestly I didn't care. He was my first choice, just for some random hookup. And I was okay with that.
I just didn't like being chosen over sometimes. I almost wish he just told me he was busy. And I would have said that he had some girl named Rosie they canceled on him.
