Backstory: Born and raised in Hawkins, she was known to be a friendly girl, even during her childhood, and in turn she had a group of friends. Her life was relatively normal until all the chaos of season 1 started. She had also been taken to the upside down just like Barb and Will, however, she managed to survive by hiding. When Nancy found the small gate to the upside down in the tree, Melly saw her and called to her to get her attention. Thanks to this, Nancy escaped along with Melly, who decided she was going to help the two of them when they planned to trap the Demogorgan.

Of course everything plays out as it had during the rest of season 1. Of course, when Steve found Nancy and Johnathan after they had set the trap in the Byers household, Melly had been with them and that's when she first met Steve.

During season two, she'd started to bond with Steve and befriend him. The season played out mostly the same, but she was a part of it. She happened to be passing by when Dustin and Steve were getting in the car, and she politely asked them to let her help, though her tone made it clear it was more of a demand. She went with them and everything was pretty much the same from there onwards, though she playfully mocked the advice Steve gave Dustin.

Later on, when Steve agrees to stay and protect the kids, later in the series, she decided to hang back too, deciding it would far less nerve wracking than letting herself put herself in danger like she had the year prior, of course in the end. She also witnessed the whole ordeal between Steve and Billy, deciding it would be safer for her not to step in, though felt guilty for not being able to help.

Once again, everything carried on like the season, just with her there too.

Again, Season three was pretty much the same, but with her there during the whole getting stuck in the Russian base. She wasn't captured like Robin and Steve though, instead she got away with Erica and Dustin.

She helped the two kids rescue them.

When they were in the cinema, she noticed Robin and Steve leaving to get water and she followed them to make sure nothing happened to them, which led to her hearing Steve's confession to loving Robin, and in turn she felt saddened as she'd started to fall for him during the summer.

Upon hearing Robin's rejection she couldn't help but feel relieved. What she didn't know is that Steve also liked her, but didn't want to admit it while she was around.

When they went to leave as a group, and the guards noticed them, she received a bullet to her lower back, but instead of letting onto the others, she untied her jacket from around her waist and put it on to hide the blood, since it wouldn't show up on the black fabric of the jacket.

She hid with the others and was there when the other kids arrived and took down the Russians that were after them.

She went with the rest of the Scoop Troupe to go to cerebro, still not telling them about her injury, despite it getting more and more painful.

Everything plays on the same, all while Melly's injuries start to get worse.

Shortly after the kids reign victorious over the mind flayer, while she's still with Steve and Robin, Melly's injury is getting wworse, and she starts to get light headed, and the two noticed, asking her what's wrong, though she doesn't reply, until one of them notices blood seeping through the hem of her shirt which is visible beneath her jacket and Steve rushes over, removing the jacket and seeing the blood, and before she can explain, Melly finally passes out.

The next thing she knows, she's waking up in a hospital bed, with her friends standing around her.

The group almost instantly crush her in a hug, which she laughs softly at. It's during this that Steve admits to her that he likes her, and was worried when she passed out, and asked her why she hadn't told anyone, to which she responds with that she didn't want to worry anyone.

Then we get to a few months later, where she's with everyone else, bidding farewell to Eleven and the Byers as they move.

"So you're telling me that those freaky things and that other world weren't just some messed up nightmare? That was all real? Well, this'll be one hell of a story to tell my future kids.."
