Chapter 2: The Counter-Attack

"It seems to be true. Now let's turn the tide and win this battle!" he said with a bit of enthusiasm. "Everyone! Engage!" Abraham shouted as the sounds of gunfire filled the air alongside the sound of aircraft soaring through the battlefield.

Time: 12:01 hours

Location: Pearl Harbor, Hawaii

At a naval base located in Hawaii, the 7th fleet was sitting in the port, awaiting orders. It has been a year since the sinking of USS Abraham and its escorts in the Pacific Ocean. By the front of the base was a memorial for the fallen members of the fleet, each named engraved into the stone wall that was dedicated to the fallen navy and marine servicemen. There, a marine in dress blues, and with the insignia of three arrows pointing upwards with two rifles underneath them on a red patch, stood in front of it, as if she was searching for a name. 

At the very top of the stone was the name "Daniel Ace" with the rank "Admiral" above it. He was the commander of the flagship USS Abraham Lincoln when it was sunk. Under his name was the rank "Captain" with the name "Shigaraki Hayashi" followed by many others, of various ranks, that were killed that fateful day. 

The marine continued to stand there before someone called out to her. "Sanchez, what are you doing out here?" asked a man who wore an insignia that resembled a silver eagle with a shield in front of it and arrows held in it's claws. "Colonel Miller... I was just looking at the names.." she said after saluting the Colonel. The man saluted back and simply just nodded as he too went to look at the names. "Looking for your brother?" he asked as Sanchez nodded. "Yes sir... He was killed that day.." she said as she gently touched the named "Diego Sanchez" that was engraved under the rank "Warrant Officer 1".

"Must have been a brave man." Colonel Miller said as he looked at the other names. "And so were the rest of them.. Fought to the bitter end.." he said as he touched the name "Matthew Wilson" next to the rank "Lieutenant". Sanchez looked at the name he touched and decided to ask him who "Matthew Wilson" was. "Who was he, sir?" she asked in which Colonel Miller gave a small sigh. "A good friend of mine..." he said before moving his hand away. He then put both hands behind his back and turned to leave. 

"Do not dwell on the past, Sergeant. Our fleet may be gone but not forgotten." he said before leaving her alone. Sanchez watched as the silhouette of Colonel Miller become distant before turning to face the memorial once more. "Rest in peace, Diego.. I got it from here.." she said, saluting the memorial before taking her leave.

Meanwhile

Location: Battleship Missouri Memorial in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii

Time: 12:04

 A maintenance crew was cleaning the upper deck of the "Mighty Mo" as the memorial was closed for the day. "Man.. The summer heat is killing me!" said one man who was holding a crate full of merchandise. "Quit your complaining. The boss said we gotta clean this place up and to move everything off the ship." said a woman, who was pushing a trolley with a few crates on top of it. "Why though? This shit is tiring!" he said in which the woman sighed. 

"Boss said due to the heat waves, he doesn't want any of the machines to be overheated or damaged since it might affect the ship and he doesn't have the money to fix a whole battleship." she said as she managed to get down a ramp safely. "Bet the government does." the man said as he went down the ramp. "Yeah, but when was the last time we got funded?"

The two kept talking as they pushed the last of the items away from the ship and towards a large air conditioned building. However, unbeknownst to anyone, the ship began to give a soft glow, as if something was awakening from it. Deep inside of the ship where the captain quarters was, a body of a man could be seen laying in it's bed. Soon, the man had awoken yet he was rather confused by everything that was going on...
