I blink open my eyes as I start to regain consciousness. The first thing that registers is pain. I can feel it in my whole body. Like someone is cutting me open everywhere at once.
Gritting through the pain, I take in my surroundings. I notice that I'm strapped to some sort of reclined table. I feel like a science experiment, just laying here for someone to prod.
The last thing I remember is Damian reading that note to Xavier and bringing me somewhere.
Xavier! I try to yell through the mind link. Help me! Damian found me.
"That's not going to work Lyla," a voice says from the doorway.
I turn my head to find Brad walking towards me, a sinister gleam in his eyes.
"As soon as you got here, I fed you wolfsbane. It blocked your mind link and it's causing you that pain."
I grimaced as another wave of pain washed over me.
"And to think I wanted you dead," he continued. "If only I knew that you were The Omega. I would have used you to get what I needed long ago."
"What are you talking about?" I questioned. "What do you want?"
"It's pretty simple Lyla," Brad said. "I want you."
I gasped in horror. "You'll never have me. I'm Xavier's. He and his pack will find and save me from you."
Brad laughed maniacally. "Oh Lyla, I want your blood more specifically. Damian can have you any other way he chooses."
I shivered remembering what happened to me the last time Brad let Damian have his way. I couldn't let that happen again.
"You see the Sunset Pack has been working on something for a long time, something big," Brad explained. "We've been cultivating a drug called aldain. It will enhance my pack members and allow them to kill any werewolf who won't swear allegiance to me, the greatest alpha of all. Once I control all packs, I will be the strongest werewolf that ever lived."
Understanding what Brad's plan meant for the Midnight Crescent Pack and all werewolf packs, I knew I had to stop him. However, there was one part I was confused about.
"What does me being The Omega have to do with your plan?" I questioned.
"Since you are the strongest werewolf by nature, I need some of your power and strength," Brad said. By extracting some of your blood and adding it to the aldain, my warriors that take the drug will develop some of your strength temporarily.
It was as if a switch had flipped in my brain and everything fell into place.
"You're going to use my blood to start your reign of terror," I said.
Brad didn't have to respond. I knew I was right. He walked over to me, a needle and syringe in hand.
"Try not to move Lyla, it will hurt more if you do," was all Brad said as he plunged the needle into my arm. The syringe began to fill with my blood until it was full.
Brad pulled out the needle and grabbed a bottle of wolfsbane. "Just to make sure you are incapacitated," Brad said as he poured the wolfsbane onto my cut.
Excruciating pain ripped through me as Brad walked away with my blood. I knew I needed to stop him, but I couldn't move. Darkness started to crowd my vision once again and then I was out.
