I walked back to my room, leaving a stunned looking Lyla at the doorway. It felt good to know I could excite her with just my words.

Just wait until she sees what you can do with your body to excite her, Power said.

I smiled to myself. I couldn't wait to mate with her. Of course, we'd have to wait until after I marked her at the Luna ceremony, which was going to take place on her 18th birthday in 2 weeks.

She's going to make a great Luna, Power said enthusiastically.

I know buddy, I replied. She'll be amazing.

I got ready for bed changing into just a pair of boxers. I laid down, but couldn't fall asleep. I was too excited. Kissing Lyla had that effect on me. I was just starting to get lost in my thoughts when I heard a soft knock on the door.

"Come in," I answered.

My sweet little Lyla opened the door. She was in a cute set of silk pjs. I would've focused more on how gorgeous she looked in them if I hadn't seen her face. She was crying.

I quickly sat up. "Come here baby," I motioned at the bed. "What's gotten you so upset?"

She sniffled. "I had a nightmare."

Oh no, I thought. "Is it because I kissed you? Did I bring back bad memories? I'm so sorry."

"No no no, it's not your fault. I've been having nightmares about my abuse for a long time. This one was just particularly bad," she answered, scratching her wrists.

"Do you want to talk about it?" I pondered.

"Not really, no," she said while rubbing her wrists.

I took her wrists into my hands to see what was bothering her so much.

"No, Xavier don't ," she said, but it was too late. I turned over her wrist to find jagged lines and scars. I realized what they were as Lyla ripped her arms out of my hands.

"It's nothing," she stuttered. "Pretend you didn't see that. I should go." She started to get up, but I grabbed her hand.

"Don't leave Lyla." I asked her. She sat back down. Gently, I took her wrists into my lap and turned them face up. I looked from her self-harm scars to her face.

With a sad smile, I said. "You don't have to hide this part of yourself from me. I can't begin to understand what you went through at Sunset Pack. But I am here for you now, just let me in."

I leaned down and kissed her scars. "You are so important to me. Nothing will ever change that." I wiped a tear from her cheek and gave her a kiss.

"Thank you Xavier," she said. "C–can I sleep in here with you?"

"Of course, little one," I replied. "Come here."

d the top of her head.

I laid back down and she snuggled into my chest. I kisse

"Good night Lyla."

"Good night Xavier." she answered.

Then we both fell into a peaceful sleep in each other's arms.
