My phone vibrates and wakes me from the light sleep I was finally able to get. Today is going to be a day living off caffiene and energy drinks.
Or so I thought.
Oddly enough, I slept light but peaceful with Shane just in the back of the clinic. Which for me is super strange since I have not trusted a man in years. Jovi has been the only expection to how I feel towards the male gender.
Please don't get me wrong, I will be nice to a guy. It is not like I just down right hate the ones with steel rods between their legs. It is just that I have a hard time trusting men because of what happened when I was sixteen years old.
What I have seen hit me harder than it did Lola because she is younger than I am, but I remember the hard times. What gets me is the sorry prick tries to call Lola and I on our birthdays and for the holidays like it can just make up for what he done. Plain and clear it doesn't make up for crap.
My alarm goes off again, since I guess I hit the snooze instead of the off button a few minutes ago. Probably a good thing since I got caught up in my own head. At least I used the vibrate mode on my phone for the alarm instead of sound.
Which again is me being nice because it is not just me and the animals in the clinic this morning. Shane is here and if he is sleeping then he needs his rest. Both times I got up to check the animals in the kennels, he was awake and sitting up in the cot. Along with constantly asking if I would take it and he would sit up front.
I open the side door for Oreo to run out into the fence in area. Fluffier meows and jumps down from the counter wanting some morning lovings. I rub over his soft coat for a few moments.
Time to get busy, I suck in a deep breath of air and walk to the kennels. Before I do though, I peek my head around and it actually seems like Shane is sleeping with how he is laying on the cot with not reacting to me moving about.
Going into the kennels area, I close the door slowly and clean through the kennels for the little messes made through the night since I last was here. Right after clean up is done, I go about checking each baby over. A couple more will be ready to go home today.
As I hold a kitten in my hands off to the side, I check over her little stitches. Poor baby got caught in a barb wire fence. This little darling is scared of dogs and will run in a moments notice from what the owner said. So while here I have made sure she is away from the dogs kennels, but their barks don't bother her.
The cat in my hands hisses and hunches up her back, as her nails dig into my arm. "Ohh sweet girl. Calm down for me." I softly talk but she isn't reacting to me.
Instead her hisses continue and she claws out of my arms, jumping to the floor and running behind a shelf area in the kennel section. I drop to my knees and look for her little paws.
"Come here sweet girl. Nothing will hurt you." I call out.
A nose touches my cheek and I look over to see Tanker. Ah, now the cat reacted like she did. I scratched Tanker's head and stand up from the floor. My head hit the top of the kennel door the cat was residing in while here.
I rub the back of my head. Well that was smart.
"Are you okay?" I hear Shane's deep voice.
I turn to look at him.
"Yeah all good. Could you shut the door? My one fur patient escaped, she is feline and apparent the owners weren't lying when they said she is scared of dogs."
"Sure. I am sorry about that. Tanker has been trained to open doors." Shane looks guilty.
"No sorry needed. It is good to see he can get through if needed." I laugh and go back to looking for the little girl.
"Tanker out." Shane commands and Tanker listens instantly.
Shane closes the door back and gets down. "She is over here." He points.
"Thanks." I crawl over and pull a treat out of my pocket.
In no time she comes out and I look over her again before getting her settled back in the kennel.
I wash my hands off and look at Shane. There is no doubt about how hot he is and can make a person's eyes just burn from the overload of sexiness.
"Are you ready to see if Tanker is good enough for him to be able to leave?" I ask him.
"I do have a shipment that I was scheduled to get today but if he isn't well enough then I will cancel it if they don't want to wait." Shane looks down to Tanker once we get the door open from the kennel area.
Tanker seems to be walking normal this morning, which is a very good sign. I go through doing up another round of x-rays on him between his mid section and his leg.
I give Tanker a treat as the images load onto the screen. Shane pets through his fur and seems at ease.
There is an audible sound through the back as the door is being unlocked. Lola and Jovi both step into the clinic. Their laughter falls short when they see Shane sitting on the back bench with Tanker.
"Good morning, sis." Lola eyes me with questions.
"Morning." I smile.
"This is Shane Thomas, he brought Tanker in last night on a emergency call. I am waiting on the new x-rays to come up to see if he will be good to go home or not." I let them know but without all the other information.
Feeling as though that is private and with Tanker being under my care, I don't want to just give it all away with Shane literally in ears range.
"Nice to meet you Shane. Hope everything goes well for you baby." Jovi steps up and shakes hands with Shane.
Lola and Jovi move out to the front. Which I know Jovi is going to be stocking the rooms and Lola is going over morning paperwork, but it won't stop either of them from hounding me after Shane leaves.
I look back to the computer and the images are up. I look them over hard and am very pleased with how they look from the first ones twelve hours ago.
A/N---
Hey Hey Guys!!!Sounds like Tanker is fixing to be released from Samantha's care?
What will Jovi and Lola be up to once Shane leaves? Surely they won't be so bad right?
