The three of us have been on the road for a couple of hours now. We stopped by fueled up the rig before going in and getting food for ourselves along with drinks to last several hours. Samantha fell in love with the breakfast burritos they had out and couldn't believe the sizes they had for everything.
I glance over to her and she is looking at all the view as we pass by. Most of the time we have been on the interstate but there is still some views to be seen with the flat lands.
"Look over there." I point out when Samantha's head turns my way.
"Is that a tornado?" She gasps.
"Sure is." I nod.
"That thing can't be all that far away but it is so clear right here. Aren't we going to pull over somewhere for safety?" Her voice gets a little high pitch.
I shake my head and laugh lightly. "Nope. That twister is a good couple of miles away from us. The way the clouds are moving it won't come this way we are heading, because here is our cut off not far."
"Have you seen that before? Because you are way to calm." She stares at me with wide eyes.
"Yes, a couple of times. Trust me at first I had the same reaction as you are now. I spoke with many truckers that are locals to the areas like this with the flat lands and it is normally to see one from a couple miles out. It is all about knowing the direction of things though which helps to ease worry. Not that I am not a little worked up over it all but I just wait until it gets really bad for it to show." I smile over to her.
"I can still see it. That thing just seems to go away." Her voice sounds in awe over it.
"Probably disapating." I smile and glance to her again.
I move with the lanes as our split it up for the interstate section.
"It is still so amazing how you can do so much and make it seem flawless."
I catch her staring at my movements.
"Just something I know how to do. Like how you know way more than I do about animals." I smile and shift between gears with the traffic slowing us down.
"Sounds like you have a lot of training and knowledge yourself too. You're very wise for being twenty-five years old." Samantha smirks.
"Life throws curveballs that is for sure. If we are on that age topic though, I am the lucky one with a cougar in my rig." I smirk right back.
"That is just mean." She laughs.
"You're the cougar, little paws. Maybe that doesn't sound right together. Doesn't cougars have large paws?" I can't help but laugh.
"They are in the big cat family." Samantha smiles.
"Well you're no where near big. If anything you need a little meat on your bones. Still could be called a cougar though." I smirk over to her.
