Later that night, Alice tricks her parents and tells them she is going to a party. Of course, they say yeah, I mean we have two security guards with us. Bad part is that we are not going to a party though, we are going to a meeting in Miami. We get there at like 11:00 PM in the helicopter and Simmons waits for us at the hotel's restaurant. We introduce Alice and he seems to like her. Alice almost fell dead when we told her the agency we working for was the CIA.
Since I completed the offer of getting two members before the end of the week, he won't add another member to the group. Throughout the whole meeting, he scolded us on racing; told us he didn't like what we did last night.
"We told you to keep away from trouble." Simmons says looking at all of us. Sarah is sitting next to him. Jack and Stones are waiting outside or they probably went to sleep to their hotel rooms. I don't know, I'll tell Sean or Chris to text them later. Simmons continues to talk. "Alice? Right?" He says looking at her.
She looks intrigued to what he is saying. "They probably told you about what it is you are going to be doing and all that. I know you are in between should I stay or should I go. Let me tell you that this is not just any mission, it's one that we rarely conduct, which inlcudes using minors or teens. I know you are going to college or thinking of it. Join this, and you don't have to worry about that."
Simmons and his convincing angels have risen.
"Why is that Agent?' Alice asks. Chris is bored to death at this point. Sean is somewhat hanging in there and Melvin is looking at CIA training history or something like that and signing some papers that Sarah gave him.
"Well, this goes down on your record of course. After the mission, which can serve as an internship to be honest, you can start working right away with any government, country-related agency. That is, let's say, the FBI or something like that. We can also help you go into college and pay for it."
With this, Alice was stunned. She told Simmons she would think about it and give him a call in the A.M. Before we left, Simmons told us that we will be sent to England in five days. I felt a little bit of anxiety rushing through me instead of blood. What if things don't go as planned?
On the way home, with Chris driving us in an SUV, I relax my mind a bit talking to Alice. I tried my best to make her say no to Simmons offers. I told her she should follow her dreams.
"You mean my parents's dreams?" She says with a bit of frustration. "I'm 18. I think it's time to make my own decisions..." I agree with her, I mean I rather have my friend in school, becoming somebody than driving around, carrying missions or whatever. But I support her in whatever she decides and makes her happy. When we arrive, Alice tells her parents she will be back in the morning; Simmons's people are taking her back. It's pretty silent as we drive inside the house's driveway. Melvin hops in his car and drives back home while the rest of us go inside the house.
"Five more days..." Sean says as he leans on the stair railing. I look at him and nod nervously.
"Why do I feel like I'm not ready?" But I am, at least physically. All this training has been stressful, I mean I'm used to it since I go to a Military Academy, but this is just different. While I've been in training, these past three days, I've learned how to properly hold any kind of gun (that took a while to sync in). I've also been taught on these undercover spies 'gadgets'. Some include like a laser in a ring and some tracker in my hair, it's pretty cool to be honest.
Chris takes Alice on a tour around the house, I hear them laughing as they descend down to the basement; Chris throwing some cheesy pick up lines here and there. Sean and I sit out in the back patio, while the sway of the night sits upon us.
"This is it ." He says staring at the dark, mysterious sky. I am next to him in a fancy black metal chair. Two weeks ago when we got presented to this, I never thought of becoming friends with Sean, but little by little, we actually got along. I mean I still think he is super annoying...I don't see it as no kind of romance thing, right now my focus in on what Simmons assigned, but there's just this little dance my heart does when I'm around him.
It's like that feeling when I'm out racing, that freedom, that love, that happiness. Sean seems to provoke it out of me, just there isn't no wheels, or engines involved.
"No, this is the start." I say.
"You think Alice will join?" He asks still looking around.
"I'm positive. You heard the way she talked about being free? Right? Don't we all want to be free?"
"Um aren't we in the United States? Declar-" He says joking around. I push him over a bit.
"Not like that. I mean like soul freedom. She wants to do this, I know she does."We then lock eyes. He stays silent a while. "What?" I smile because what other expression will I pull on?
"This is the Rosie I wanted to meet. I'm happy I know her now." He smiles back at me.
"....There is more to know though" I say looking away with a smirk. Am I really flirting? No, I have to remain focus, but damn, It's hard when those soft brown chinky-eyes look at me like that. Somehow, I get lost in the universe..
The next day, Alice took a plane back to Atlanta. I bet her folks are flipping out. She will tell them about the mission, but not directly of course, she will just say she will be out to the "Summer Camp" Simmons made up. Ha, what summer camp sends teens across the globe to become undercover spies and filter information for the CIA?
