It is a man's own mind, not his enemy or
foe, that lures him to evil ways.

I thought about the morning's events as I walked home from school. I succeeded in keeping my mind off it at school.

As I approached the usual route back home, it felt different. I remembered my ordeal with the two men earlier and it set me on alert.

I walked past the fence on the left where I lost the men. I spotted my hoody on the ground. It seemed the man that had a grip on it dropped it right there behind the hole in the fence.

I crossed over to where it lay, it was a grey camouflage hoody of the U.S Army.

My dad gave me before he went to Iraq and never returned. I had developed an emotional attachment to it.

I bent over to pick it up when I heard noise from above me. I looked up to trace the noise. Out of nowhere, one of them ambushed me.

I scrambled back allowing the man to land hard right in front of me. I stiffled a laugh as surprised and afraid I was. I stood up from where I sat.

"Where's your buddy?".

My question was answered by his "buddy" lifting me off my feet from behind. I struggled to get out from his grip but it was futile, he was too strong.

The other guy who tried to ambush me from above, staggered his way up from the floor. He strides over to me and hands me a punch square in the face.

"Where's the book punk?" He asks.

I thrust my legs into his chest making him fall backwards. He muttered a string of curse words I couldn't make out.

He got up and lunged himself at my neck holding my collar tightly. "I ask you one more time kid, where's the damn book?"

"Heard Santa was looking for books maybe he took it" I didn't know when those words came out my mouth but I was happy they did.

His eyes burned with fury as he wrestled me from the grip of the man holding me and lunged me forward with a front flip.

I landed on my back and groaned in pain. Luckily for me, I was only a few inches from the hole in the fence but my chances of going through it were slightly less than in the morning.

I gripped the hoody tightly as I turned and lay on my stomach. I pushed myself up on my knees with my hands and looked up to face the two men.

I noticed something I didn't have time to notice in the morning, their grey sweaters were identical and had a seal printed on the front of both of them.

Just then, they looked to each other and began speaking to each other. "Let's kill the kid, he's getting in the way", the guy who grabbed me said. For a brief moment our eyes locked and I gave him a smile that made him grit his teeth as if holding back his obvious anger.

"No Thomas, we need him. He might know where it is". "Thomas", at least i know one of their names. They both moved towards me and looked at me as if deciding what to do with me.

Thomas was more physically developed than his partner but it seemed his partner was though the boss. Thomas had a buzz cut and tattoos on the lower part of his face

His partner on the other hand was less muscular than him, brown hair, green eyes and a goatee. I knew without Thomas I could take him on

They were interrupted and distracted by the sound of a police siren closing in on our location. I took this as a chance and pushed myself up to my feet and made my way around them.

They were caught off guard as I ran into the street moving towards the direction of the monastery. The chase re-initiated and it didn't seem they were going to give up this time.

I kept running with no plan or idea where i was going or what I was doing or going to do. I looked back to my surprise and found that I had made some good distance from them.

I smiled to myself moving faster down the street. The sound of a bullet ricocheting off a light pole ahead of me brought a new sense of panic and made me more alert than ever.

I ducked and covered my hands with head and turned back to the sight of the horror of Thomas pointing his handgun at me.

"Shit!" "Is he insane?" I said to myself

It was either he was running faster or I was running slower, he was going to catch up to me if I didn't think fast

I caught sight of some stairs going up an abandoned warehouse. I jumped forward, my right foot made the 3rd bar and my hand caught the ones above me and i began climbing.

I made my way to the roof of the warehouse and looked around for an escape route. Thomas and his "buddy" were already making their way up. I could tell from the sound of their boots coming in contact with the metal bars on the stairs.

I caught glimpse of the building ahead and decided to make a jump since the building wasn't as tall as the warehouse. I would definitely make it.

In a split second I made my jump, which was accompanied by a bullet piercing my left leg. I landed face down on the building and cried out in pain.

Just then a deafening sound rang with the appearance of a man in a red armored suit.
