When Ned first arrived, he needed to go to a Small Council meeting. He had to go through the throne room and he found Jaime Lannister on the steps leading up to the throne.

"Thank the gods you're here, Stark. About time we had some stern northern leadership," Jaime approached the new Hand.

"Glad to see you're protecting the throne," Ned said dryly. "I heard Robert assigned you to protect my daughter..."

"She's such a lovely woman," Jaime smirked. "I imagine the King believes she is Lyanna Stark reborn."

"I will talk to the King and have you reassigned," Ned clenched his jaw.

"Why? You would rather have one of your household guards protecting her than one of the best swordsman in Westeros?" Jaime argued. "That seems careless, Stark. But, nevertheless, I do what the King tells me to do."

"I won't have you near my daughter because you're a man without any honorable intentions," Ned said boldly. "So why would I trust you to watch over her?"

"Right? Honorable?" Jaime smiled bitterly. "Well, if we're being so honest, Stark, then you should know I'm the only man in this place that doesn't want a piece of your daughter. I guess, in a way, I'm the most honorable man you're going to find."

"You couldn't be honorable if you tried," Ned said and walked past him.

Jaime watched him go before he frowned. He hated how it felt like Eddard Stark...was right.

After they arrived, Elyanna was in the gardens, looking out over the city. Sweat dripped down her forehead as Jaime stood behind her. He was not reassigned.

"It's so...hot," she commented as her pale, white skin was flushed red.

He formed a small smile, "It wouldn't be if you didn't dress so warmly."

Her dress was a thick cloth and not made for the South. She looked back at him as her nose wrinkled, "And it smells here."

He chuckled as he stepped beside her, "It's not as grand as everyone makes it seem."

"Why didn't you tell me?" she accused.

"I didn't realize I was supposed to," he argued.

"Is Casterly Rock like this?"
