It's been a long week of Mitsuri looking after me. Today is my first day without her looming over my shoulder. She eats a lot and her personality is similar to Rei's just a little more shy. Apparently a few days ago Tanjiro arrived, but I haven't seen him. I have a feeling that he's been busy considering I also heard that he found some 300 year old sword. I met the Mist Hashira as well. He's young but incredibly strong. He doesn't really listen well, nor does he focus much on anything except demon slaying. The Pillar doesn't seem to dislike me, but he doesn't like me either.

I'm walking down a village path when I hear a familiar voice and some shouting.

" And get out!" a man shouts angrily.

A mess of green and black tumbles out the door to my right and I pause in my tracks, hands raised slightly in shock.

" Why is he so mad all of the time?" Tanjiro asks himself.

" Tanjiro?" I blink slowly.

He turns slowly to me.

" Aku! So you are here!"

" Yeah. I've been here for a week and I've gotta' say, the Love Hashira can get...overbearing. And touchy."

" Touchy?" he questions, clearly confused.

" Literally touchy. Like grabbing me and dragging me across the village."

He stifles a laugh and stands up.

" It's been torture."

" Well she seemed nice when I met her," Tanjiro smiles.

" Your opinion doesn't count. All you do is see the good in people," I sigh and roll my eyes.

He could fight an Upper Moon and be empathetic about their mother having a cold and them helping her despite the demon murdering hundreds of humans.

" That's because deep down, everyone is good."

" Even the Demon Lord?"

He goes silent at this.

" Didn't think so. So, you recovered alright?" I ask.

" Yup! And my stamina is back to normal as well!" he responds cheerfully, " anyways, I'm gonna' go nap since I'm pretty tired."

He does seem like his normal self. Did anyone tell him?

" Do you know?" I question before he could leave.

" Know what...?"

" That I went with Akaza and the Demon Lord gave me blood forcibly."

He stops in his tracks but he doesn't look back.

" So...you're a demon...?"

" Technically, but I am standing in the sun currently."

I can hear his breath shake as he balls his hands into fists.

" I presume it was for a good cause though?" He asks, voice quivering.

" Yes. Akaza was going to kill Rei and Arukawa."

" Then...it's fine..." he says softly, resuming walking.

I stay put and watch him leave, dread forming a pit in my throat. I know that it isn't fine, I know that it causes an issue in our relationship. I'm a little worried that we'll never be able to get over this fact...

I leave him be and go sit under a tree, closing my eyes and falling asleep.

Rumbling in the distance wakes me abruptly. I sit up quickly and look around, my head still a little fuzzy. I can't detect any demons, but I can smell Tanjiro's attacks. I rush towards them in a hurry, not wasting a second. Pulling my blades out of my arms, I slash my arm.

A body flies past me, but I don't recognize this as Tanjiro so I keep going. Eventually I get to a house that's been destroyed. In the center is Nezuko, some random demon slayer that's been impaled, and three demons. I don't see Tanjiro, but my allies here are outnumbered. I leap into the air, aiming for the staff that's stuck in the demon slayer's stomach.

Blood Breathing, Fourth Form: Last Breath.

My blades hit the staff directly and cut it roughly in half. The demon slayer groans. I land on the ground, on hand on the floor to balance and the other with the blade pointed at the demon. He takes a step back, a shocked look on his face. I don't waste a moment and lunge forwards, slicing his neck clean off.

" You alright?" I quickly as the demon slayer.

" Who the hell are you?!" he shouts at me.

" Aku..." I look back at him, " Tanjiro's friend?"

" I don't care who's friend you are, you're a demon!"

" Actually, that's a pretty common misconception," I shrug.

A staff hits me in the ribs hard and I stumble back. I look up, furious. The demon has regenerated and is attacking once again. I dodge the next swing, but the second demon sends some sort of electricity firing at the other demon slayer and I.

Blood Breathing, Seventh Form: Dispersal.

This is a new technique that allows me to temporarily phase through anything, including living beings. Mitsuri helped me create this form after I had told her about my father's blood demon art.

I move swiftly to the staff demon, but before I could reach him, something hard hits me in the side and it sends me crashing into the wall. It takes a moment for the darkness in my vision to fade, but then I push the rubble off of me. Standing up, I see the electricity demon stabbing Nezuko directly in the neck, shooting the lightning straight into her body. Tanjiro crashes into the building, holding a foot that resembles a bird's. Tanjiro deflects the electricity demon's attack with the foot, then slashes the demon's face with his sword. I shake my head and rush towards them. Tanjiro goes to take the staff out of Nezuko's neck, but the demon drives his other staff at him.

I reach for the demon's weapon, allowing it to run through my arm. Blood drips out and I swing at the demon with my free hand using the Sixth Form of my Breathing Style. He backs away quickly, but only so that the demon who's suddenly in the air can fire a shot at us. He's holding a leaf-like object and swings it in the air. Sensing the overwhelming pressure, I toss Tanjiro and Nezuko out of harm's way. It feels as if gravity decided to crush me as I'm forced through the floor. Black threatens to swallow my vision, so I take a quick second to regain full consciousness.

I look up weakly, back healing but still aching. Nezuko and Tanjiro are both hit with lightning, the bright light blinding me. I slow my breathing and stand up on shaky legs, cutting my left arm open. I leap out of the rubble and jump forwards, countering an attack at my friends. They're both unconscious on the cold ground.

" So you woke up, huh Aku?" one of the demons ask.

" It must have not been a hard enough hit Karaku. Kill him off already," another one scoffs.

" Didn't Akaza want him alive?" the third one asks.

" It doesn't matter. Clearly, the blood didn't work on him so it's a lost cause. We'll just kill him."

They know my name. I'm confused, do all Upper Moons know my name? I'm not exactly special, but I guess I do look different to your average human...

" Three Upper Moons against one?" I ask, " I'm not so sure that's fair."

I'll have to hold out until they wake up because there's no way I can win this fight.
