I will not lie, I love hotdogs, chicken, all sorts of meat. And for a while I was happy as can be, but facts kept piling against meat, but are these facts even true? Can a self proclaimed "animal lover" even eat meat? Well, I think so.
My tale started a while ago, I was surfing the internet, when I came across PETA's website, out of boredom I decided to go inside. Now, I think most of us know the meat industry isn't exactly known for it's kindness to animals. But I had never given it a second thought.
Now, one article really detailed about how cruel the meat industry is. And it made me think about the age old question, "Why love a dog but eat a pig?" But I do love pigs, heck, we're going to get a pet pig. Surely that would have satisfied me, but then I came across this insane vegans's channel, I'll leave her unnamed, but I'm sure some of you know who I'm referring to.
I mainly watched her content because, well, she's a little on the crazy side and I wanted to laugh, after all, some of her claims include Betty White being the equivalent of Hitler for liking meat, snakes should be vegans, and that Gordon Ramsey is one of the worst people to walk the Earth.
So yeah, I got a good laugh from watching her insane, outlandish claims. However, while watching I was still exposed to vegan "facts". Some were true yes, and these questions made me ponder how I can be an "animal lover" yet eat meat. Yes, it's a natural part of being a omnivorous animal, but I still thought about it.
Every time I'd justify it something else would set it all back, and for months I wondered about it. And it wasn't easy, facts fighting against each other, ethical concerns, hypocrisy, I didn't know what to do. Yet, alas, recently, I've decided to still eat meat. Why?
Personally, I don't think that me eating cows means I can't love cows. Cows are quite interesting when you learn more about them, and I don't think anyone just eats meat because they love the idea of animals dying. I still hate the unnecessary practices in the meat industry, as well as the entire thing itself, that's why I believe in lab-grown meat, (we'll talk about it later.).
I feel as though I can eat meat but still make a difference in the lives of all wildlife, whether it be cow, chicken, lizard, elephant, pig, etc. By evolving from the unnecessary practices as well as the meat industry as a whole, into an industry where we all benefit, pig and human alike. I understand this answer may not satisfy everyone, but it's my answer to it all.
Thanks for reading, and remember, conservation is key.
