The day one for a fresh courting, as usual; it was not the season for courting but Princess Mayah still had a lot of suitors. The Rumours spread all over that the Gem was open for suitors again and they desperately needed the Princess to get married. Women could not help but make mockery of it.
“I have heard the palace is still accepting suitors to visit the princess. Why do they force our bachelors to we'd their daughter? She is stupid and can not pick a husband. She seeks a perfect lover, that which is only seen in fairytales! And our men throw themselves to her feet just to get her to pick them.”
“Haha! But it is not the season. They are breaking rules so their daughter can get married or engaged. Royalties always have their ways!”
“Are they so desperate for their Gem to get married?”
“Who would have thought the gem will still be single.”
“Marian have already prove to be the real Gem. I will advise the royal family to relax their muscles and accept the fate of their Gem.” A gossiper said while laughing mischievously.
“And the princess does not look bothered.”
“The only thing that drives men to her is of course, the crown.”
“I do not think it is just the crown, the princess is indeed beautiful but I do not know why she rejects men. Do she have a bound already with someone?”
“The suitors rejecter you mean?”
“That is too harsh to say but i agree with that title.”
All their whispers suddenly became louder and so loud enough for even the deaf to hear. Gossips of the princess and that of Lady Vivian, who was confirmed pregnant for Master Billy spend. Master Billy however, was forced by his parents to deny the pregnancy since it would bring shame to their family, but Lady Vivian's family requested for their daughter to be married off at once to avert further ignominy.
Many of the women on the other hand, secretly pressurized their sons to make sure they win the heart of the princess. They wanted to become Royalty by the means of marrying the princess.
“You should know that our King does not have a son, so you must be the next King of this kingdom. And I, I will be the King's mother! What a change it will be for our household. We will become the Royal house in-laws. Please, make me proud my son, i believe in you.” Lady Nancy praised her son, Master Mason.
“I will make the princess love me and my handsome looks will charm her my way.” Master Mason uttered with a smile while admiring his look at the mirror. He had so much confidence in himself, he was a good womanizer and ladies fell on their kneels when he winks at them. Princess Mayah was a female and sure, he was going to get her to accept him in no time.
“I pray so! I just can not pinpoint what she searches for in a man.” Lady Nancy sat on her wooden chair close to where she stood.
“She needs a rich handsome young man, like me!” Master Mason winked at his mother.
“Just go and win her over! Make us proud!”
The palace was filled with men, all seeking the attention of one, the Gem, who happens to be the Princess. Gifts and flowers filled the passages and the visiting room. It was as though the entire men in the kingdom came. Some even got into fights and were carried out of the palace by the palace guards. Well, others learnt their lessons and no one dared to fight or abuse one another. Some were also married men.
“What is your hobby?” Princess Mayah asked one of her suitors, Lord Black.
“Just like my name, I am an isolated person. I do not have a hobby, but I am good in bed!” He replied with a smile and Princess Mayah frowned.
“Okay!” She dried said and forced a smile.
“What are your hobbies, my Princess?” Lord Black asked while sipping on his tea, with his legs crossed.
“I love reading...” She got interrupted.
“Reading? That is so boring!” Lord Black mocked.
Princess Mayah got irritated by his action and wished for his time to be over.
On the second day, Princess Mayah have still not given an answer to anyone, while other maidens who seized the opportunity, were getting engaged.
“Have you heard that Sienna, the daughter of Lady Eleanor got engaged to one of the bachelors Princess Mayah rejected?” Lady Ava one of the gossipers said to her fellow gossiper, Lady Gabrielle, in the shopping mall for clothes. It drew the attention of other women as they began to eavesdrop.
The women noticed they had the attention of many in the shopping mall, so they continued, “I heard she rejected one because he bought her undies.” Lady Gabrielle said while laughing.
The rumours increased, some were not true but since it was linked to Princess Mayah, many believed and the royal family was not pleased at all.
“What are we going to do? Why do the princess bring such shame to us?” Queen Evelyn complained.
“If by tomorrow she does not pick, I will have no choice than to pick for her.” King Beldon consoled his wife. She looked pale!
The king was so angry at Princess Mayah and avoided contacts with her at the dinning table. She was bringing a bad name to the household and it broke his heart.
The third day came and still Princess Mayah did not pick anyone suitable to be her groom.
“How is it going with the courting?” King Beldon asked his personal assistant, Lord Parker.
The aged man lowered his stare and wore a mask of disappointment.
“Your majesty, I am sorry to say but the princess is still rejecting bachelor's and all of a sudden.” He paused to swallow his salvia and tried to control his breathing, “All of a sudden, she... She...” The King could not take it anymore.
“Speak up! I am done with the oddity. Spill it out or face my wrath!” King Beldon yelled and the personal assistant, shivered.
“She retired!” He forced himself to say.
The King was even more aggravated when he heard the words of the assistant. He stood from his seat and went to see for himself but did not find the princess at the waiting chambers, he then went to her room and was told she was not in. He had dropped his responsibility as a King and needed to meet his daughter as an annoyed father.
“Where is she?” The assistant, Lord Parker, asked. Everyone was shocked to see the King himself coming over to find his daughter. They feared what might happen and without been told, knew why he was looking for her.
“Check at the garden!” One of the guards answered and immediately, the King left with his escorts.
“Oh my, the King looks very raged and i wonder why he looks for the princess.” One of the maidens who saw the King asked the two others she followed.

Is it right? Why force her into marriage for somewhat culture? Being gem is cool tho but they should let her be.
